Couples' Summer Vacation

Perfect for our Glacier vacation

We loved staying in this house. It is an older house with some upgrades. We just felt very comfortable there. It was plenty spacious for the two of us. The kitchen was perfect for our needs, with a dishwasher and all the necessities, and enough counter space and table space for cooking and eating. We ate almost all of our meals in, or packed lunches for our hikes. And the grocery store, Smith’s, was a 4-minute walk away. They had a great selection and we found everything we needed there. Believe me, we visited it a lot. We flew in, so we had to get everything. But, the kitchen was nicely stocked with some of the staples, like coffee, and salt and sugar, and cooking oil, etc., so we were okay the first night. The beds were very comfortable and we slept great. A ceiling fan might have been nice, but that’s just what we’re used to. And the couch and TV were great for relaxing. Overall we had a wonderful time. Oh, and Glacier National Park is amazing.

Great Little House

We stayed for two nights with our daughter and her husband. We were in the area for a wedding. We were able to explore Whitefish and the area. The home is walking distance to the small downtown, but good restaurants, fun shops. We had dinner at the Mexican place, very good. We had breakfast at Montana Coffee Traders and it was very great. . The house and grounds are well kept and clean, and well stocked. Our one complaint is the beds lack a top sheet, which we do not like. Sometimes a top sheet is just the right amount on a hot summer night, as the comforters were too warm. We would recommend this highly..

Convenient Location

Enjoyed the location of the cottage. Nice distance to the park and Rt 2 for going to East Glacier. Very good restaurants to walk to. Comfortable King bed.

Wonderful location and great home

Awesome place close to Glacier!

We absolutely loved our stay here! The house had everything we could possibly need and it was super close to the bars/restaurants in Columbia Falls. We especially loved the miscellaneous toiletries and laundry supplies that were available to use, if needed. The drive to Glacier was super easy to make and didn’t take very long. Great place to rest after long days adventuring in the park. We would definitely stay here again if we ever venture back out to the area!

Family Friendly

Great spot in the middle of Columbia Falls

A well equipped, comfortable cottage near the center of everything in Columbia Falls. Nice outdoor dining space and plenty of room for 4 adults. Park access to both West Glacier and Pole Bridge entrances was closer than we expected. The TV and Roku work fine, but it took a couple of engineers to figure out initially.

Visiting Glacier National Park and White Fish Mountain

Perfect spot for visiting Glacier NP and Whitefish Mountain and town. Easy walking to restaurants. The house was clean and cozy and enjoyed the backyard. Thank you for sharing your cute little place!

Great cozy cottage

We loved our cozy little cottage. My only request is to add another fan to one of the bedrooms for us southern folks that sleep with them at night. ☺️ This little house is in the heart of Columbia Falls, extremely close to the park, and walking distance to downtown. The beds are more comfortable than what I have at home!

Super cute and fantastic hosts

This property was so cute and clean! It was 2 blocks from a grocery and restaurants too. The hosts were so nice when we messed up or reservation. We realized rhat we needed to stay an extra night and we were so lucky that they had rhe availability to accommodate us. We would 100% stay here again.

Beautiful and cozy

Enjoyed this home very much - appreciated all of the woodworking! Very convenient to walk to the grocery store and for a morning cup of coffee. Interior was clean and comfortable. We made good use of it on a 'down day' from our park explorations where we napped and watched TV. Excellent kitchen and laundry facilities! If we were to venture back to Glacier NP, I would look to book this property first!

Cozy Comfy Cottage!

We had a great stay here. Cottage was clean and comfortable for our group of 3 senior adults. It is walkable to groceries and restaurants. We especially enjoyed the Gunsight Saloon, there was live music in the outdoor area. The neighborhood was quiet and we slept well at night, finding the beds quite comfortable, and we liked hearing the trains come through town. Access to Glacier was easy from this location. We would stay at this property again.

Glacier Getaway

The "Little House" was the perfect resting place for our three day visit to Glacier National Park. There is a great backyard to grill or sit out and unwind after your day of sightseeing. It is perfectly located to downtown, so close in fact we actually walked to get groceries and pick up dinner. The home is immaculate and very cozy. The bed in the large bedroom is SO comfortable! Sarah was very accommodating when we asked if we could check in a day early, she got back to us within the hour. We would definitely love to come back and stay here on out next trip to the area. Little House

Cozy and Comfortable

We were on a family road trip, my brother and sister-in-law, my husband and myself. Glacier National Park was on our list of must-see attractions. The Little House was the perfect place for the four of us. So cozy and comfortable. We cooked breakfast and packed picnic lunches and at the end of the day we had relaxing dinners and enjoyed quiet family time. Having the washer and dryer was a real bonus. Highly recommend.

Felt like home

Everything was very nice and comfortable. Tiniest complaint could not find a can opener but I’m a real Boy Scout so I got it done. Blew a breaker owner was very helpful

HI! My name is Sarah and I will be your onsite host while you stay at Little House Under the Big Sky. I moved to Columbia Falls after graduating from college in 2005 and have made it my home ever since. I am the director of the local community college's campus recreation program. Through my professional contacts and personal love for the outdoors I have developed great relationships with local outfitters. I have had the opportunity to enjoy all the summer activities that Whitefish Mountain Resort offers and I am also an avid skier. In the summers I love to whitewater raft, float the rivers, kayak and fish. I am steeped in the recreational opportunities of Flathead Valley (Glacier National Park, Columbia Falls, Whitefish, Bigfork, Kalispell) and eager to share with you summer and winter activities. I will point you in the right direction to the most popular tourist attractions as well as the more off beat destinations you won't want to miss. I can recommend great outfitters for all the recreational opportunities the area has to offer. I live close to the Little House and vouch for how convenient it's location is to the mountain and to Glacier.

Little House History:
During the complete renovation in 2018, some of the Little House's history was discovered inside the walls. Built in 1895 as a one room cabin, the original builder of the Little House left few clues to his identity and the first location of the cabin. But, the exterior walls on the south side were lined with news papers from 1895. In 1912 the house was moved to it's present location and a lean to kitchen was added. Under layers of felt and wall paper, the north wall revealed the name of the depression day owner, Robert B, who in 1931 added the side bedroom and at long last indoor plumbing. Today, enjoy the Little House's beautiful new kitchen and baths, native pine tongue and groove ceiling and other special accents unique to this Glacier vacation get away.
