Day 1- June 29th 2020: we went to the Panhandle office as directed to pick up our “2” parking passes as advertised in our booking. We were told this property only allows “1” space per unit and they were out but they would contact the property to have our passes there to pick up.
We arrive to the room at 4pm since early check in was not allowed and we were told the passcode would not work until 4pm for the door. We walked into wet footprints on the floor, food all over the table in the dining room and just from there it was clear our room was not ready. We contacted the office and they stated housekeeping has until 6pm and they would get someone right over, which they did. However, at 6pm when housekeeping left, I was left to clean since they did not vacuum, they did not run the dishwasher, I found socks, a bathing suit and a hat under the beds, and during COVID, attention to detail and cleanliness was NOT a high priority for housekeeping. A guy had contacted me by phone while housekeeping was there and apologized and said he would check back and ensure everything was cared for, that did not happen. I sat 2 hours at the pool with 7 kids while my husband and brother-in-law sat on the balcony with my 7 month old son and all our luggage so the baby wasn’t in the sun for hours, and considering the elevator didn’t work, we did not want to carry all our luggage back down the stairs from the 5th floor down to the 4th. The elevator would not open on the 4th floor.
While cleaning, I was sweating and thinking it was from scrubbing everything down, digging hair from the drains, moving furniture to clear dirt and garbage however, I walk to the thermostat to find an alarm saying the air had not been working for the last 4 hours. I contacted Panhandle to notify them about the AC and inform them the refrigerator was not working. 3 guys and 2 days later, they left the filter out of the unit to get the AC to work never truly correcting the issue. The refrigerator was never looked at.
On Thursday, we rented 2 golf carts, we rode them most of the day and were in and out of the property with no issue. About 11pm that night, my brother-in-law pulled in “using the gate code” only to pick up the 2 oldest teens to take them out for a ride. A “White” security guard approached him telling him “a black man” that this is private property. My brother-in-law reminded him, he used a “code” to get in so clearly he was a guest, he proceeded to ask for his room #.
