Rick and his family rented Miner Cottage from its original owner in the Summer of 2017. At the time they had no intention of buying a 2nd home. The house, while without heat and modern amenities, had a perfect "in town" Manchester location and a history that was incredible. Additionally Miner Cottage was the last remaining home on Manchester's "Main Street" that hadn't been renovated. During their visit they fell in love with the charm and character of Miner Cottage. The restoration was simple. Rick's goal was to restore the home without compromising its character. Miner Cottage remains, as Rick promised its original owner, "your family's Miner Cottage" with updates.
Rick and his wife, a prominent Ct. landscape designer, bought Miner Cottage because it contained the three elements which connect with their lifestyle. First and foremost they love the beauty of Southern, Vt.. Secondly, the in-town location of Miner Cottage basically eliminates the need for a car in Manchester for their weekend visits, and thirdly, you can "set your watch" to the "trafficless" 3 hour drive from Wilton to Manchester on any day and virtually at any time of year.
Manchester, Vt. and Miner Cottage offer the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of the NY metropolitan suburbs and Rick is excited to share the Miner Cottage/Manchester experience with others.
