This is a beautifully appointed, roomy, and comfortable home, nestled on a quiet creek off the Tred Avon River. It was a perfect location for our siblings get-together. The house is both elegant and comfortable and has all the space and amenities a big family would want for a week away. We spent most of our time relaxing in the huge kitchen/family room overlooking the gorgeous deck and beyond it, the back garden and creek. We had to take work calls but could easily work in privacy from different rooms, whether it was the formal living room, the study, or the porch. A big plus is that all the bedrooms have their own en-suite bathrooms. There is a nice dock where my brother-in-law went fishing every morning. There are also kayaks which unfortunately we didn’t use as it was too hot. We had cocktails and grilled most evenings on the deck (which is as large as the house itself). The owners, Laura and Greg, couldn’t have been nicer and more helpful. When we arrived, much to our distress (and to Laura’s), the pool was a lagoon green, due to a combination of recent heavy rains and mosquito sprays in the area that resulted in high phosphate content (this happened kind of overnight to other pools in the area as well). Laura was totally responsive and the pool people were there several times a day to treat the pool. From our side, we understood this was a case of “force majeure” and that it would take some time for the pool to be treated and get back to normal – luckily it didn’t take too long and we were able to use the pool after a couple of days. While we were waiting, Laura offered passes to the swimming pool at the yacht club but we were ok to wait for a while and spend the time antiquing and rediscovering our favorite sites in Easton and St. Michaels. Thank you, Laura and Greg, for being such wonderful hosts and letting us enjoy your beautiful house. We have rented many waterfront houses on the Eastern Shore through the years and it’s rare to find a perfect house that has the personality and charm (and amenities) of a lived-in house, and where guests can feel comfortable at the same time.
