Let me start off by saying that Irene/Greg are good, responsive hosts. The house was nice and fit our group of 14 adults comfortably (ski trip). Our stay was unusual: it was a week after 3ft of snow and 3ft more came down while we were there (Feb 2019). If you are visiting the house in similar conditions, there are a few things to be aware of:
1) There is only one snow shovel (plus one kid shovel). If there is snow in the forecast, bring several of your own for digging out cars.
2) The road on which the house is located is one of the last to get plowed. During our trip, the snow from overnight Sat to Sun was not cleared until Sun evening. During that time, it was impassable for small cars (even with chains: not enough clearance).
3) They suggest that you park at least six feet back from the roof line. However, that distance is not enough: it only accounts for medium snowfall. While we were there, half the roof's worth of snow came crashing down. Due to the slant of the roof, the snow which came from higher up acted as a projectile, shot forward several feet, and dented the hood of one of our cars. It was scary! I would strongly recommend only parking on the lower half of the driveway. It may not be plowed wide enough to fit two cars side by side. We were just barely able to park out two smallest cars out of the street.
4) Getting the driveway cleared when there has been heavy snowfall is a challenge. Irene/Greg have a contract with someone who comes by with a plow, but they are hard to reach and will only plow if there are no cars in the driveway. This means you need somewhere else to park your cars temporarily. In our case, we got permission to park in the driveway of a neighbor who was away. We waited outside for the plow to arrive and then moved our cars.
5) When there have been 8+ feet of snow during the season, the bear box may be completely inaccessible, so you should talk to Irene/Greg about alternatives. We got permission to use the neighbor's.
6) The hot water occasionally stops working due to ventilation issues. Resetting it sometimes works. In our case, it failed twice. The first time it restarted after one attempt. The second time it took six attempts.
Overall, despite a few hiccups, we had a great time! We would definitely recommend the place to friends. If we stayed again, we would probably bring extra shovels and only bring four cars instead of five so that we could avoid the upper half of the driveway entirely.
