The owners rent a basement suite separately, which is not mentioned in the description. You are not renting the entire house.Also, the owners sneak around the house without prior notice to let you know, for example, that they are gardening. You will have more privacy.

Awesome place

This was a great spot! Lovely lush gardens in the back was a stark contrast to how dry it was everywhere else! The house was spotless when we arrived and fulfilled all our needs. Great hosts!

Beautiful, peaceful spot

We enjoyed our stay here very much. Heather was quick to respond to all our questions and was very accommodating. The suite is large and airy and super clean. The deck was a perfect place to sit in the evenings and enjoy the peace and quiet and beautiful trees. We had a great time checking out the nearby wineries.

Pleasant home close to beautiful lake

A spacious and well furnished home with nice garden. Kitchen not as well equipped as we are used to but fine. Could do with supplying more soap, washing detergent etc. Our main issue was that the basement was rented out to another couple who shared the garden. We were not aware that we would be sharing some of the property. This should be made clear. There was also a camper van parked by the house which is also rented out. Luckily it was empty the week were there but we could have potentially had to share garden with 2 other couples/families. So overall a little disappointed that the advert was not totally clear about this. If you are happy to share a garden it is a nice property.

The house on the bird sanctuary.

This generous spotless house is in a gorgeous location and worked our perfectly for our Thanksgiving dinner. We had a lovely weekend in Summerland. Thank you to Len and Heather.

Peaceful

Morning coffee on the patio, looking at the beautiful garden listening to birds is such a peaceful way to start to your day. Highly recommend. We will definately be back.

Clean and beautiful place

Just a nice and quiet place to stay with lots of early morning wildlife. Would definitely come again and there’s a great beach for the summer minutes down the hill for the summer!

Stellar Jay, Stellar Stay

As a group of six friends we had a lovely stay at Stellar Jay. We shared 3 bedrooms and had plenty of room to lounge, cook, eat and sip wine. The location on the edge of the Adams Bird Sanctuary is private with a pretty garden area off the deck. We could walk to the beach and it was only a few minutes drive to pick up groceries. Great place to stay for families or a group of friends looking for a quiet getaway.

A very peaceful stay!

A lovely property that is so tranquil and quiet thanks to being right beside the local bird sanctuary! The house was very clean and the kitchen was extremely well stocked. One thing to note, the lower garden level of the house is a separate rental property that has shared access to the backyard and bbq.

Great choice for COVID times

This spacious property was great for 2 retired couples who wanted to get together and yet maintain reasonable distancing. Having access to a beautiful yard with deck/patio and BBQ allowed us to prepare several dinner meals, thus avoiding restaurant dine-in exposure. Well furnished and maintained. Central location was within short drive of many wineries and grocery outlets. Many choices of places to walk for exercise, without encountering a lot of people. Excellent choice for our purposes.

A/C unit makes too much noise

Spacious and very well equipped. Would work very well for a family with 3-4 children. Downstairs bedroom was not comfortable as a/c unit was too close to the bed and made so much noise it had to be turned off with the result that the bedroom was uncomfortably warm.

Lovely spacious home. Quiet private yard with walking distance to the lake

We stayed for three nights with our 3 kids ages 18, 15 and 11. We had lots of room for all of us to feel comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped with a barbecue and private deck outback was a lovely area for having our meals. Walking distance to the public beach that wasn’t crowded. Close to downtown for groceries and vineyards/orchards! Would definitely recommend staying here.

I'm Len and my wife is Heather. Heather retired after 36 years of employment and has resided in the area of this property all of her life. I've been in the Okanagan 38 years and was a Professional Chef for 28 years, I retired from cooking in 2002 and then operated the Weedman LawnCare Franchise in Kelowna until 2010. Since then, I've worked for an Okanagan wine tour company, a job I loved, meeting new people every day and I'm currently driving for the Okanagan Hockey School. Heather and I love and have Traveled extensively; mostly Europe, Southeast Asia and Australia. Heather's interests include antiques, sewing and attending the Summerland market (June thru September) and the Penticton market (April thru October) where she sells Infiniti Scarves and other handmade items . I am a golfer and enjoy swimming and riding Mountain and Road Bikes in the Area .

Your backyard is basically a BIRD SANCTUARY, that pretty well says it all . We reno'd the property in 2018, with an indoor emphasis on Birds and Butterflies; we are members of the Meadowlark society . The property has a private setting and is close to all amenities in Summerland. Its 5 minutes to the Beach and right across the street from the Summerland campground, it is 15 minutes from Penticton and 5 minutes from Summerland town center and close to some of the best wineries in the Okanagan .
