This is a lovely cozy cottage on a quaint and private inland lake just minutes from beautiful Charelvoix. This was our second stay and I wish I could keep the place a secret, as it is already booked through the summer and into the fall. The owners are easy to talk to, welcoming, and accommodating. Communication is prompt.
We met a few of the residents of the cottage grouping during this visit and they are so welcoming. It was still quiet and relaxing. A few fishing boats out on the water. We brought our own kayak and enjoyed paddling the entire lake. Saw a family of loons while paddling and heard them every day.
Charlevoix is perfect in every way. We've had a family cottage in the area for 35 years, so we are a bit prejudiced. It is small enough not to attract big franchise stores and restaurants while big enough to offer unique shopping, many beaches and water sports, and hiking and biking. You can easily travel to Petoskey, Harbor Springs, or Traverse City for bigger venues.
The cottage is adequately equipped with kitchenware for cooking meals in, including several spices. The beds are serviceable but the mattresses will need upgrading soon. I slept on the pullout couch last visit but this time I brought an air mattress. There is plenty of floor space for a couple of them if need be. The mattress in the tiny loft area seemed very comfortable. We only checked it out but didn't sleep there. The headroom clearance in the loft is quite limited. You'd only put one person there (and best probably an older child or teen).
We did not use the window air conditioner as the weather was ideal and the windows are spendid! The breeze from the lake is pure summer. (We did use the gas fireplace for heat during our fall trip. It was perfect for heat and ambiance.)
We love this place. My sister and I were here together each time. We are in our fifties. Will try to book sooner so we can stay in the summer and in the fall every year. Our fall trip last year was as wonderful as this stay.
