The River Lodge - new look, same place!

WELCOME TO THE RIVER LODGE –a place to gather with friends and family! This unique home sits on a peaceful five acres on the banks of the Mississippi River. It features three levels with 7 bedrooms plus additional sleeping areas in the loft and the game room, making it possible to fit up to 24 guests (see below for details). The great room with its double height ceiling and loft balcony provides a large gathering space which is perfect for reunions and retreats. Additionally, there are 3 other living rooms all with smart TVs, 5 bathrooms, a game room with ping pong, several outdoor sitting areas, a beautiful fire pit patio and several lawn games to enjoy.

THE AREA
The towns of Aitkin and Crosby are just a 15 minute drive from the lodge. Both have a wonderful variety of cafes, restaurants, antique shops and events throughout the year. Also a short drive away are the famous Cuyuna mountain biking trails! In the winter, cross country, snowshoe and snow-mobile trails are all nearby.

-Dogs allowed (up to 3) with pet fee - inquire for pet rules and fee questions
-No parties allowed
-Only guests who are part of the reservation may be on the property at any time. Small weddings allowed with additional fee, only up to 50 guests. Please inquire for details.
-No confetti or glitter allowed
-The Mississippi River is not easily accessible and swimming is never recommended. There is a boat launch just a couple miles down the road and several great lakes nearby with beaches as well. We would be happy to provide more details.

Gorgeous property. We hosted a grooms dinner at The Lodge during our stay. The house and everything in it were perfect. One small issue but it didn’t affect our stay. Joy was available for questions and checking in throughout our stay. We are already planning our next trip!!!!!!

This was our second time at The River Lodge, & my family had a wonderful time. We lost water one evening and Andrew was very responsive & helpful in getting someone out quick to fix it. The lodge was very clean & stocked well with supplies. Tons of seating & space for a large family. Beautiful yard. There were several bedroom/bathroom doors that wouldn’t fully shut/were very difficult & loud to shut. Overall a memorable & wonderful stay/ highly recommend!

Relaxing River Lodge

The River Lodge was the perfect location for our extended family to unwind and reconnect. The accommodations are top notch! The sweet owners answered all of our questions immediately and were very easy to communicate with. We were sad when we had to leave and look forward to staying again!

Wonderful get away

Some friends and I spent the weekend at this property and had a wonderful time! The cabin has a beautiful design and great artistic touches. We comfortably fit 18 people. Joy was very responsive throughout the weekend as well. We loved it and would highly recommend!

amazing girl's weekend

we had 20 women together for the first time since 2019 and the property was perfect for our large group. Everything in the home was beautiful and lovely decorating touches. We had everything we needed in the kitchen to make large group meals, lots of space to spending chatting and sleeping accomodations worked for all. We plan to come back!

Amazing family vacation!

We spent our annual family vacation at The River Lodge this year & it was by far our favorite place we’ve stayed! The lodge was very clean, well stocked with supplies, & Joy was very communicative, attentive, & great to work with. We had 10 adults, 5 kids & a pup & never felt cramped. It was spacious with many different spots to watch movies, read, or visit with family. The wrap around porch & the yard were our favorite! The lodge is also decorated beautifully, & the property is so peaceful. We hope we can return soon!

Perfect space for extended family or Retreat

The space was fantastic--beautiful AND functional. We loved all the little books and crannies. We had plenty of beds for everybody and lots of space for little groups of cousins to spread out to play games, nap, visit, sit in the hot tub or just relax. The welcome basket and texting from the hosts was greatly appreciated. They go the extra mile and it shows. Thank you Andrew and Joy!

Terrific!

We had our wedding of 28 people and it was everything we hoped for and more. 24 of our guests slept at the lodge and it was plenty accommodating, the lodge itself was great, clean, and provided plenty of room for our guests and activities - not to mention the photos were beautiful in the winter. In addition to the lodge, Joy and Andrew were extremely responsive with any questions or issues we ran into. We couldn't have been happier with our stay.

Highly recommend for a large family or group!

What a great property! This was the perfect location to spend time with our kids and with another family. There was plenty of space for each family to sleep, plenty of space for the kiddos to all play together, and plenty of space for the grown-ups to visit! The kitchen was set up great for making our own meals, the big dining table was perfect for all sitting down together to eat, and it was amazing to have plenty of dishes to feed all of us (and a dishwasher for easy cleanup!). The beds were comfy, the water pressure in the showers was fantastic, and even the toilet paper was high quality. :) The property was clean, the amenities were as we expected (yay hot tub! yay foosball!) and the place is just absolutely darling. I would absolutely recommend this property to friends and, in fact, I already have!

Wonderful location and hosts!

My group of friends gets together once a year from all over the country to relax and chill out together. This place was PERFECT! Tons of space for different groups to play cards, watch movies, or play video games. The kitchen was epic and handled cooking for a larger group with ease. While it was a bit too hot for fires at night, the backyard was perfect for some volleyball and kickball. A few of us like to fish and there were plenty of lakes just a few minutes away. The hosts were great and reached out regularly throughout our week stay to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Our only minor complaint was the internet being a bit slow, but good news! Fiber lines were being laid during our stay. Overall, this place is awesome and our group of friends are already thinking about booking again next year. P.S. There is a Dairy Queen just a few minutes away for late night blizzard cravings :)

Beautiful and Comfortable Space for a Large Gathering

We rented this home 3 nights for 19 extended family members ages 11 to 70 to spend time together in celebration of my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. We were very comfortable and had plenty of spaces to spread out as well as gather as a big group and in smaller groups for games and conversations. The house was beautiful, clean and well stocked. There were so many nice sitting spaces inside and out, we joked we needed to stay longer to try them all. We enjoyed playing cornhole/bags in the back yard and some old fashioned night games as well as lots of ping pong in the basement. One of us did some fishing from the bank of the river. We chatted over coffee on the back deck, sat on the front porch, and ate meals at the large dining room table. Andrew and Joy were very communicative and responsive via email and text before and during our stay. We also visited 3 beaches in the area - a city park in Crosby, a state swimming hole at Cuyuna, and an amazing clear, shallow beach at Pelican Lake about 30 minutes away.

Our stay was perfect! We held a small elopement wedding here with our closest friends and family. We were very happy with the updates Andrew and Joy made to the property since we originally booked it. Everyone who attended was beyond impressed with how beautiful the view and set up was. The only bump we had was our first night it was unbearably cold when we were trying to sleep. Joy got back to me in the morning and quickly fixed the issue. Overall, Joy and Andrew were a pleasure to work with and were extremely responsive.
