Honeysuckle Cottage sits nestled among the Victorian-era homes that line the cozy, narrow streets overlooking the town of Manitou Springs. The owner, John, lives next door with his playful pup. John is warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable about the town and its history. From the cottage, it's a short drive to Garden of the Gods and other area attractions, and an easy walk down to the village shops and restaurants - a little harder hiking back up the hill to the cottage, but relaxing on the porch at the end of the day makes the hike worthwhile!
Our stay was very pleasant and, for the most part, comfortable, but there were a couple of unexpected issues for us: First, use of the kitchen was fine for simple breakfast and lunch, but cooking a larger meal would have been challenging due to limited supplies for food preparation. Second, the bathroom is only accessible by going through the second bedroom. For many guests, these would not be problematic at all, but knowing what to expect ahead of time would be helpful.
Our primary concern was that, in spite of being charged a cleaning fee, the cottage was not clean. There was an overlooked used towel from a previous guest, a dirty footprint on the bathmat, the kitchen floor was grimy, and the cottage as a whole was in need of a thorough, deep cleaning.
That being said, however, if the cleanliness issue was resolved, I would not hesitate to stay at there again and would recommend it to others. Honeysuckle Cottage is full of nostalgic charm, quiet and relaxing, yet convenient to a wide variety of dramatic landscapes, historic sights and exciting attractions.
