Lovely farmhouse in a peaceful location

A lovely secluded little house, perfect for anyone who wants to get away from the crowds. The farmhouse is easily big enough for two adults and two (older) teens and could easily accommodate six. The outside space is fantastic, with a covered area for eating, loungers by the pool and seats under a tree. Plenty of room so no one feels like they are getting in each other's way. A beautiful 40 minute drive from Faro, and 30 minutes to Tavira (definitely recommended!) The only thing worth pointing out is that the track down to the house is quite narrow and has a hill to one side, so nervous passengers may want to get out and walk the last 50 yards of the journey. Certainly not a reason not to go though! Hope to return next year, and we've never returned to any cottage or villa we've rented before!

Schönes Haus in den Bergen. Alles wie vom Gastgeber beschrieben. Absolute Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit. Schöner Pool mit Aussicht.Es gibt ab und an Besuch von den Nachbar Hunden, was für uns kein Problem war.Wir haben es sehr genossen.

Bon séjour au calme dans l’arrière pays

Maison typique au confort simple avec magnifique vue sur la campagne. Belle piscine, tous les équipements ménagers utiles dont lave-linge et lave vaisselle sont à disposition. Terrasse agréable pour les repas, avons passé 2 semaines de détente dans un lieu calme en pleine nature.

Heerlijke plek!

Ruime woning op een prachtige locatie. We hebben genoten van de rust en de natuur om ons heen. De kinderen vonden het heerlijk in het zwembad. De keuken is goed uitgerust zodat het fijn is om zelf te koken of gebruik te maken van de gas BBQ. Prettig dat er een wasmachine is en de kinderen vonden het heel tof dat er goede WIFI was! Zij hadden een kamer met goed bereik, dit was niet in alle kamers. Buiten onder het afdak was onze favoriete plek om te relaxen, eten, drinken, lezen en spelletjes te doen. Als je dit huis bezoekt, kijk dan ook eens in het fotoalbum over de verbouwing van dit huis. Heel bijzonder om te zien hoe deze plek opgebouwd is! Je bent ongeveer 10 minuten, met de auto, onderweg door de bergen om op drukkere plekken te komen. Er liggen gezellige stadjes in de buurt die je kunt bezoeken. Ook een autotocht door de bergen maken is erg leuk. Kortom: Wij hebben van onze vakantie genoten! Familie Kerckhoffs

Mala experiencia en general

La ubicación no era mala, pero mal camino de acceso. En el anuncio decían que había aire acondicionado, pero no era así. Aunque nos hicieron un descuento, no mereció la pena. Pasamos mucho calor. Barbacoa sin bombona de gas( hasta el día siguiente de pedirla no nos la trajeron. Obra en una casa que hay pegada con el consiguiente ruido. Y además para colmo( aunque sé que no era culpa de los dueños) teníamos máquinas trabajando toda la noche cortando árboles y haciendo caminos. También nos fallo varias veces la luz, una noche varias horas, incluso tuvimos q hacer la cena y cenar con las escasas velas q había en la casa.

Good place to stay, few issues to be solved

This is a lovely villa in a lovely peaceful location, the pool was well maintained and the house was clean. There are however a number of negatives with this property; when we booked the property the pool was advertised as heated, it is not. There are air conditioning units in the sitting room and one in the master bedroom, neither of which work, we understand they have been "disabled". We were very uncomfortable at night even with the window open, there is a fan but it is noisy and it smells as though something is burning, so we couldn't use it. The property is three bedrooms but has six single beds, so a couple has to push the beds together but of course, there is a gap. There appears to be a double bed in the master bedroom but again it is two single beds pushed together. I would have thought there should at least be a proper double bed in the master bedroom. We were in the property for ten days but there are no replacement sheets or towels available, we were given the option of washing our own sheets and towels, there is a washing machine but no washing powder. This could be a perfect holiday rental property, but only if these issues are dealt with.

10 jours de vacances au calme sans que rien ne manque

La casa do Carvalho est une charmante petite maison nichée au cœur des montagnes. Calme et tranquillité sont au rendez-vous. La maison est située à 15 minutes du premier village et à une vingtaine de minutes de São Brás de Alportel où on peut trouver tout le nécessaire (3 supermarchés - pleins de petits commerces et un bourg sympa où se trouvent également des restaurants). La ville de Tavira (plus touristique) est également située à une vingtaine de minutes. Son éloignement des villages environnant en fait un réel atout si vous voulez décompresser et passer des vacances au calme. La maison est située entre deux autres habitations similaires mais ne souffre d’aucun vis à vis. Le petit chemin qui la dessert est uniquement utilisé par les riverains (les 3 maisons) et ne présente donc pas de risques ni ne génère de nuisances. Le jardin est bien entretenu et la végétation y est très présente (elle permet notamment de créer un cocon autour de la maison). La piscine est très agréable (6 m de diamètre sur 1.3m de profondeur) et est nettoyée une fois par semaine (largement suffisant). Plusieurs terrasses et une grande table pour les repas permettent de toujours profiter du soleil, du matin jusqu’à environ 18-19h (fin août). La maison est très bien agencée avec un salon, une salle à manger avec cuisine ouverte, trois chambres et deux salles de bain. Côté équipements, rien ne manque. La vaisselle est présente en quantité suffisante et il y a tout ce qu’on faut pour cuisiner. Vous y trouverez un Lave-vaisselle, une machine à laver, la tv par satellite, une chromecast, internet (debit 8Mb/s stable), tout y est pour passer un séjour très agréable. Deux bémols (tout à fait personnel). Premièrement, la literie. Les matelas sont de bonnes qualités mais le sommier de la chambre parentale mériterait d’être changé. Il grince et l’absence de tête de lit font que les oreillers ne cessent de tomber pendant la nuit. Second bémol, la température qui peut vite monter dans la maison (les climatisations ne marchent pas). Mais, au fil des jours, nous avons réussi à « optimiser » la ventilation des pièces pour retrouver un peut de fraîcheur en soirée. Nous avons passé un séjour très agréable et n’hésitons pas à recommander la casa do Carvalho. La maison est très agréable, bien équipée et surtout au calme et isolée. La communication avec les propriétaires est excellente et ils ont été aux petits soins pour que nous passions un séjour agréable.

Paz, tranquilidade e comodidade

É a propriedade perfeita para quem procura um lugar calmo, longe de multidões mas com todas as comodidades. A casa está muito bem equipada com tudo o que possa fazer falta e que se possa imaginar, o contacto com o anfitrião é rápido e todas as questões que tivemos foram rapidamente resolvidas. A piscina é excelente, apanha sol desde manhã bem cedo até cerca das 18h (em final de Agosto). A única coisa que acho que faz falta é uma boa ventoinha em cada quarto. Não sei se é assim sempre mas apanhamos uma semana com imenso calor e os quartos à noite rondavam os 31°C (viamos pela câmara de vigilância da nossa bebé que tem termometro). Em suma adoramos e gostaríamos de repetir com certeza!

Beautiful villa in peaceful location

Absolutely loved this villa. Great areas to sit out from sunrise to sunset and enjoy the views. Lovely pool. Well equipped house. Enjoyed the remote location in the hills- bird life, great views, very relaxing, remote. We went with our 10 month old daughter who had a great time. Host made everything very straightforward and good directions. You don’t really want to leave the villa but we had some good trips out to surrounding towns. Would definitely recommend if you want to get away from it all.

endroit très calme mais trop de petits détails : la majorité des prises éléctriques est arrachée, les climatisations ne fonctionnent pas, les abords pourraient être mieux entretenus, les bains de soleil sont cassés. La chambre en face de la cuisine meriterait une clim car elle présente 1 porte fenetre et 1 fenetre très exposées au soleil donc la chambre est très chaude le soir. Disons qu'à ce prix là ont est en droit d'attendre mieux

Fantastic setting and property, shame about no wifi.

The gardens and pool are absolutely stunning and the location is beautiful and very peaceful. We had a fantastic week here. The only downside was that the wifi didn't work at all. We tried the terrace and various other locations around the property and rebooted a few times, but nothing. We suspect it hadn't been topped up. Our data was also very patchy as it is so remote. If you want no contact with the outside world at all, this is the place for you, but if you have teenagers who do want some contact with their friends or you want to check the odd email, this is probably not the best option. We feel it would be more transparent to advertise as not having wifi. On arrival, several electrical sockets were partially hanging out of the walls and the pool light didn't work for our duration. Both issues were raised with the pool cleaner and we did text the owner about the wifi, but didn't hear back. However, overall it was a great week and these things didn't spoil it.

Very remote house

This house was located very remotely, at night the silence was deafening and we could see a lot more stars as back in the Netherlands. A great house if you want privacy and just want to relax. The owners respond very quick to any potential questions and issues.

Haus in den Bergen

Das Haus liegt in den Bergen zwischen zwei weiteren Ferienhäusern. Als Mieter muss man die relativ lange Anfahrt zum nächsten Dorf und bis zum Strand berücksichtigen. Bei unserem Aufenthalt war das Haus und der Garten nicht in einem optimalen Zustand. Viele Kleinigkeiten trübten den Gesamteindruck. Der Zustand des Hauses entsprach nicht dem Preis.

Casa típica, bem remodelada, boa piscina e um excelente alpendre para refeições. Utilizamos o grelhador a gás que é excelente todas as noites. As crianças adoraram a piscina e a casa na arvore. Unico inconveniente é a localização da casa, muito longe de tavira e a pelo menos 15 min do primeiro café ou mercearia.

Perfect, peaceful retreat

We couldn't believe our luck when we arrived at Casa Do Carvalho. Sometimes the pictures are too good to be true – but this time it was everything we had hoped for - privacy, a place with great character, an just remote enough that you could get to a supermarket in 20 minutes. The villa is a traditional, simple style, but with great charm. All modern conveniences were provided - although the wifi was a bit slow (we rarely used it so it didn't bother us). The villa is facing south and you get the sun from early morning to late afternoon; then we retreated to the west side of the house to enjoy the sunset on the terrace. We can't wait to go back.
