Overall, we had a pleasant, relaxing stay in a house that was comfortable for our party of 6 and we received prompt and efficient support from Oak Island Accommodations (OIA) for the problems we faced while at the property. Arrived 3:30 and house was not ready since assigned cleaning crew quit. Fill-in crew finished 3 hours later and we took occupancy. Fill-in crew was rushed, lacked enough disinfecting supplies and had problems applying disinfectant. We spent another hour doing follow-up disinfecting. OIA did compensate us for the delay. But if we did not see the difficulties the cleaning crew had, we would have moved into a property that was not properly sanitized against COVID-19 as promised. And that was a major concern for us since we had 4 high-risk individuals in our party. The kitchen was well-equipped.. Beds were comfortable. We originally had 15 people in our party, but not all could make the trip due to COVID-19 concerns. The dining table seated 8, with some bar stools at the kitchen counter. Had all showed up, the great room of the house would have been inadequate since there is only seating for 8. There is a game room in the basement. Some bedrooms are very small with hardly any room on one side of the bed. Oceanside bedroom on main level was stuffy and hot with the door closed. Bathrooms on main level are small and crowded. Lockset on downstairs door was broken and could only be kept closed using the deadbolt, a major inconvenience when going to the beach since wind constantly blew the door open. The HVAC air filters were clogged and filthy. There was no binder with information about the house and its equipment. When the microwave stopped working we couldn't find the circuit breaker box and had to call OIA for help. The maintenance guy that promptly came found the breakers hidden behind a chalk board. Microwave oven was a mystery to get working on anything but max power. One eye of the cooktop would not heat properly. Great room ceiling fan had a wall control, but would only work using a remote. Water filter for the refrigerator needed replacing. There was easy beach access, but the house is near a public access point. There were plenty of resin chairs, loungers and rockers on the decks, although several were broken and unusable. The upper deck has partial shade all day.
