One word: stairs! There are probably 150 steps down to the dock. They are slippery when wet and plain old exhausting, even if you’re in good shape. Wouldn’t be bad for just adults but we had 5 children ranging from 5-1.5 years old.
We docked two boats and didn’t have any trouble. The cove is very nice and secluded and we even swam off the dock a few times if you don’t mind a slimy ladder. The cedar creek jumping bridge is super close and you can’t beat the distance to multiple marinas.
There are no bath towels which was in the listing but kind of difficult. Also, very minimal hand and dish towels. There were also no pillow cases so we had to sleep on discolored used pillows, no extra blankets, and only one set of extra bed sheets in the whole house. Would have highly improved our stay to have clean kitchen, hand, and bath towels, some extra blankets, and pillowcases.
Kitchen was well stocked with dish soap, trash bags, spices, pans, appliances, and dishes. The grill worked great and there’s an ice maker in the laundry room which was helpful if you want to haul it all the way down the stairs in your cooler. We just went to a marina every morning and bought ice which is around $4.50/bag.
There are some hornets nests outside and near the deck. My 2 year old got stung for the first time on her ankle which was no fun. There is a home phone which can be used because there is no cell service.
The upstairs consists of a king bed with a pull out couch and attached bathroom (jacuzzi tub and stand up shower). Downstairs had 3 bedrooms with a total of 4 beds and a detached bathroom.
Overall, the house was okay. The biggest downfall were the stairs. Made for a long day and took more time to get to and from our boats on the dock. Also, Deerfield boat launch is terrible. $25 ramp fee each time to use an outdated terrible ramp which is always busy.
