Shedrock Shangrila is a luxury vacation rental located a mere seven miles from the second largest barrier reef in the world where you can experience first class snorkeling, diving, fishing, or relaxing on the islands. Whether you are planning a multigenerational Caribbean vacation, celebrating a milestone, seeking adventure or simply dreaming of relaxation, Shedrock Shangrila welcomes you to our little slice of Paradise.

You can customize your stay by renting one room, multiple rooms, or the whole house which includes four kitchens and six bedrooms with king-size beds and spectacular Caribbean views. A rooftop pool with breathtaking 360 degree views of the Caribbean and mountains is available for all guests to enjoy.

Shedrock Shangrila provides a phenomenal home base for all your Belizean adventures. Ideal for families that enjoy their privacy, Shedrock Shangrila offers a gentle sloping beach with little or no traffic. We provide beach chairs, a lazy day oceanside hammock, beachside firepit, and an outside charcoal grill to complete your beach experience. Our heated ground floor pool with swim up bar, swim deck and waterfall overlooking the beautiful blue waters of the Caribbean will complete your adventure in paradise.

South of the Village of Hopkins proper, Shedrock Shangrila is a 12-15 minute walk to 10 outstanding oceanfront restaurants and several roadside eateries. The Village of Hopkins proper is a short bicycle ride away on one of our owner-supplied bicycles. We have two, four seat golf carts available for rent.

Shedrock Shangrila has three floors with three pools; a rooftop pool on the fourth floor (180 degree view of the Caribbean), private plunge pool on the 3rd floor and a ground level pool. Local artwork and wall hangings enhance the atmosphere. If you choose to cook, there are 4 fully equipped kitchens with beautiful cabinets made by local carpenters. If you prefer to eat in, a private chef can be arranged by the property manager. For those who enjoy fishing, you can catch your fish and have it cooked for you in the privacy of your own home!!!

Shedrock Shangrila has five different rental units:

1. First floor - 2 separate suites with kitchens, king beds and Caribbean view
2. Second floor (total of 3 rooms; you can rent all 3, 2 with an adjoining kitchen or just one private suite)- 2 bedroom suite that opens to a kitchen/dining/living room and a one bedroom apartment that can be rented separately or with the other 2 rooms for larger groups. All rooms have king-size beds and spectacular Caribbean views.
3. Third floor - 1 bedroom luxurious penthouse with private plunge pool, indoor and outdoor shower, large soaking tub, outdoor grill, fully equipped kitchen, dining/living room and 180 degree wrap-around deck.

The fishing is wonderful! If fresh lobster and conch are in season you have come to the right place! There are many restaurants in Hopkins for dining indoor or outdoor including many local eateries in the village which serve local authentic “Garifuna" dishes. Some restaurants do require reservations so please check with the property manager.

Don’t feel like cleaning, cooking, or doing the laundry on vacation? We can arrange all of these for an additional charge. Make your vacation a true vacation!! Transportation to and from Dangriga airport or from BZE International is available.

A crew maintains our property. They rake the beaches, arrange for the kayaks, bicycles and handle any of your concerns. Just ask!!

How to get here: Major airlines fly into Belize International Airport (BZE). From there you have options: rent a car and drive down to Hopkins, shuttle pickup from airport or take one of the regional carriers (Tropic Air or Maya Air) to the Dangriga Airport (a 15 minute drive) where we can arrange for pick up.

Beautiful and resort feel

Our family vacation of 8 adults and 9 children was fantastic. The pool was perfect for many volleyball games and enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boards provided. We used chef Aaron for 5 of the 7 dinners and was outstanding. Ellen was there to help with anything including help organizing a special 50th anniversary party. Thanks to all for a memorable stay

Separate units were wonderful with a large group and all the personal kitchens. All villas have a beautiful water view. Appreciated the three options for laundry and the beautiful rooftop deck (best place in Hopkins to watch a sunset). Pools were chilly but maybe on a super hot day would be refreshing. Personal chef offering for breakfasts and some dinners was convenient but wished more details were finalized by cooking team prior to arrival so we weren’t required to discuss pricing and culinary selections during stay. Just added unnecessary logistics that should have been managed prior to arrival for a more seamless experience. Chef was wonderfully friendly though. Welcome arrival package from Shedrock was thorough and appreciated. Additional golf carts arranged by Ellen were a big win! Snorkel full day trip out to the keys was a highlight.

Absolutely Stunning—Like Having Your Own Private Resort!

This property was everything we hoped for and more. The views are absolutely breathtaking, and there's so much space to explore and enjoy—you truly feel like you're on your own private resort. From fishing and lounging in the hammock to relaxing by the pools and cooking in the well-equipped kitchen, there was never a dull moment.The grounds are expansive and peaceful, offering plenty of room to roam and unwind. It’s the perfect blend of luxury and nature.A special thank you to Ellen, the property manager, who was incredibly kind and responsive. She answered every question promptly and made sure our stay was seamless from start to finish.Highly recommend—we can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely perfect

Shedrock Shangrila was simply perfection for our group. We were a large family group ranging from ages 8 to 75. The space was ideal for allowing us to all spend time with each other, but also spacious enough to allow us to have some relaxing private time if needed. The location is stunning and the views are incredible. The ground level pool right on the ocean is where we spent all our time. The host and property manager were extremely helpful, communicative, and friendly. We can’t wait to go back.

Still speechless after the Shangrila experience!!

Our group of 15 had the time of our lives at Shedrock Shangrila, all thanks to the careful coordination and active communication with the wonderful property manager Ellen and the owners. The property is breathtaking — photos can’t even do it all justice! Chef Aaron & crew cooked us our most delicious meals in Belize, bartenders Cheniele & Glenda helped make for some truly memorable nights, and massage therapists Ana & Ana gave the BEST Swedish, deep tissue & bamboo stick massages we had ever experienced. What a way to celebrate a birthday with friends & family who were visiting Belize for the first time! Be sure to explore Hopkins village on the golf carts or bicycles - some of the most amazing people you’ll ever meet :)

A literal chunk of paradise

We stayed on the property for 6 days with 9 adults... what an experience! Communication with the owner and any issues are addressed immediately. The place is immaculate and is like having an entire resort all to yourself. We connected with Chef Aaron and had him make us a welcome dinner... so worth it! Top level food and nothing like having it ready when you arrive! We seriously couldn't suggest the place more. Make sure to plan a few days just chilling on the property because its that worth it! Went on a short Kayak ride and saw star fish, rays and an orange iguana... along with the flock of Pelicans that live on the property that are a blast to watch.

Property was just as pictured and described down to every last detail. We were a group of three families (6 adults and 4 children) and having the whole house was perfect for our group. The morning grounds crew kept the outdoor space impeccable making that a great area to spend our days. I would note that there is a lot of construction in the immediate area as the small peninsula the house is on is being developed. This is of course no fault to the owners but it did make for quite a bit of construction noise during the day in an otherwise very tranquil part of the town. We used Chef Aaron for the majority of our meals and that worked well so that we didn’t have to cook and grocery shop or eat out every meal. The hosts and house manager were always immediately available and all communications were prompt.

Incredible property

We had the most wonderful experience. The house is fabulous. It was everything I had hoped and more. The property manager and her husband were extremely responsive and there to take care of us. The owner is very nice and was extremely helpful. The new ground level pool was awesome and we enjoyed using it the entire stay. We were there for a celebration of life and Robyn was instrumental in helping me with the arrangements for our plans. I would highly recommend this property.

Spectacular getaway

We had a wonderful time at this amazingly beautiful property. The view from the roof top deck was spectacular. We caught a couple of sunsets behind the mountains that were stunning. Each of the rooms are beautiful. The property manager, Ellen, was incredibly responsive and helpful. She went above and beyond to make our stay special. Hopkins is a lovely little town. We came with a large group and rented the whole house which was perfect. People had there own spaces but we had a very communal experience as well. I would strongly recommend this place.

It's Paradise at Shedrock Shangri-la

We brought our extended family of 18 (ages 4 and up) to this wonderful VRBO in Hopkins, Belize. The accommodations were perfect and extremely well maintained. Although the property can be segregated into 5 apartments on three levels, we used all of them for our clan. The beds, other furnishings, and kitchens were immaculately clean and well organized. The two outdoor roof-top pools were a great hit with the teenagers and 6 yr-old crowds. The property manager greeted us and provided an excellent overview and orientation of the VRBO. She and her husband were also very helpful during our entire stay. The local grocery store and restaurants proved to be equal to the broad range of eating styles of our family. We stayed an entire week and visited almost all of the sites in southern Belize. The central location at Hopkins was perfect for our day trips. The VRBO hosts (Tony and Robyn) were very accommodating and communicative to our needs. This VRBO is the best we've stayed at over the last 7 years of annual family vacations. We highly recommend it.

The thaw before the storm

Coming from the north east to deflate before we head in to our busy season. Great manager getaway! We are hoteliers and restauranteurs. Everyone… and I mean EVERYONE was wonderful!! We enjoyed the location, views, decor and the PEOPLE. Will be returning very shortly. The street tacos were amazing everywhere we went.

Week in paradise

We had 25 people of all ages and all had a great time! Ellen, Aron and their son were so helpful and accommodating. We felt like we were on our own island. We would definitely stay here again!

Our stay in paradise

Sheddrock Shangrila is well maintained villa right on the beach in Hopkins. It has everything one needs to enjoy the stay. Ellen and Aaron (the caretakers) were very responsive to our needs and helpful in arranging various activities for us. Highly recommended.

Where do we begin ..... such a journey

In August of 2015, we took a trip to Belize to explore the possibility of purchasing property for our future retirement home. We love the ocean and really wanted to buy an oceanfront lot that was affordable. We looked in both Placencia and Hopkins. When we located the property on Coral Pointe (False Sittee Pointe before the name change) in Hopkins, Belize, we just fell in love with the unique peninsula that boasted front and back Caribbean views and possessed a dock for our future boat (negotiated in the purchase)!! Our vision of a two story home changed to a three story home in order to take advantage of the 180 degree view of the Caribbean and the mountain range view with the tallest mountain, Victoria Peak, in the background. We also loved that the developer, Aron Loewen, was committed to maintaining the natural habitat of Coral Pointe with vegetation alongside the beach that once was a preserve and the mangroves which sustain marine life and promote the eco-system for generations!!!!

One reason we selected Belize was that you have clear Title to your property, it is English speaking and the tax laws favor home ownership. We selected Hopkins due to its close proximity to the beautiful blue waters of the Caribbean, the local village and to Sittee River that flows into the ocean. If you enjoy fishing, you get the best of both worlds. Hopkins is also close to many of the inland excursions and only a 20 minute boat ride to the second largest barrier reef in the world. After purchasing the property, we got our scuba certification and have had a blast exploring the marine life. Belize is home to the second largest barrier reef in the world. Ultimately, it was the people of Hopkins that stole our hearts; their joy of life, friendliness and eagerness to share the beauty of their country solidified our decision to make Hopkins home.
