The cabin and lake view was beautiful. On top of great amenities to accommodate for a large group. The iPads were a great and was able to use the theater without issues. The hosts had great communication and were very welcoming. We definitely would love to return back!!

We made many memories here. Lots of room. The kitchen was user friendly. The way to the water was great for any age. The fishing brought lots of casting with satisfaction. We will be back.

Beautiful property! Plenty of space! We enjoyed trips around the lake on the pontoon, and evening fires in the fire pit! Great vacation with our family!

Blackwater Lodge

We enjoyed all of the amenities this home had to offer. The pontoon, fire pit, sandy beach, toys for kids, and tubes for the boat. The interior is gorgeous and nicely appointed.

Family Reunion

We selected this VRBO for a family reunion and glad we did. The first 2 days were cooler so we spent more time inside. The layout and size of this VRBO was prefect.

Maximum space, great extras.

Lots of space for our group of 20 and excellent common areas for gathering. Large TVs were a huge plus during the Olympics. Yard space to play, right next gradual walk in sandy beach.

Beautiful Place!

We had 23 of us, ranging from almost 2 years old to almost 90, and really enjoyed our stay. Overall, it's a beautiful house, yard, and view of the lake. Unexpected pros: lots of water toys and boat toys in the downstairs garage (and most were in great condition), kitchen had lots of appliances and cookware, and the grill was great. We used the pontoon and were very impressed with how well-kept it was, and even pulled a tube behind it a couple of times. For new visitors: there's no ice maker on the property, and the nearby gas station is closed, so make sure you bring your own or bring trays to make it. Other than the outdoor shower not working, everything else—bedrooms, bathrooms, facilities— was really nice and in very good condition. We all recommend it!

Perfect for Family Gathering

This property was perfect for our family summer vacation. We had 20 people and there was room for everyone. The house was spacious and the multiple sitting rooms allowed us to spread out when we wanted. There is plenty of parking across the road at a shed that is part of the property. The back yard was a great place to play yard games. The little kids enjoyed playing in the sand beach area and all of the kids spent time on the swim raft. We rented the pontoon which was great. We hauled the lilly pad out to the middle of the lake and the kids swam around that. The property is situated on a large bay and it was fun to kayak around the perimeter of the bay. One night the adults went to Northern Lights Casino while the kids stayed behind and watched a movie in the theatre room. There is a newer Weber Genesis grill which worked awesome. I brought a LP burner for a fish fry thinking I'd be able to use the grill's LP tank, but there wasn't one because it uses natural gas. If you plan to bring a blackstone or anything that uses LP be sure to bring your own tank. Although this place isn't cheap, you get what you pay for. This was a great place for our large group. I'd recommend to anyone.

awesome family reunion

Had a wonderful time. First time in a long time getting everyone together. This place was an amazing location to be together and had all the accommodations to make it a perfect reunion. We all would love to come back again in the future.

Graduation Get Together

We had some family come in from different areas of the country to celebrate a high school graduation. There was plenty of room for all twelve of us (10 adults and 2 teenagers). The accommodations were great. We also rented the pontoon which was in great running order. The host was prompt in responding to any/all questions. Overall, our family had a wonderful visit! I would highly recommend the place.

Family Vacation

The rustic 7,000 square foot property was beauitful. We only used 4 of the 5 bedrooms--each had it's own fireplace, although none of them were operational. The beds were comfortable and there were enough bathrooms for all , although everyone wanted to use the huge shower in the master bathroom! The kitchen was perfect for our family to prepare meals together. Although there is a table that will accommodate 8 people, we elected to eat most meals outside on the deck, which included a fabulous grill that was the envy of guys on our trip. The beach was mainly rocky but the little kids still enjoyed digging in it. The lake water immediately accessible from the beach was too weedy for swimming so we took the pontoon out just far enough where we could enjoy swimming and floating. There was an abundance of firewood available, of which we took advantage for a great campfire. We brought our own bags game and had a great time playing on the lawn. We had difficulty with the entertainment system in the theater room so didn't end up using that. Eventually we were able to use the TV in the sunroom, which was a great space for morning coffee and the little kids (1 yr., 4 yr.) used as a play space. The laundry room was great -- lots of room and got lots of use! Nice family room space in the basement, although we didn't use it much. We discovered some games in the "game room" which we enjoyed. Very little luck fishing but loved seeing and hearing the loons!

Outstanding Reunion

We gathered our children (6 children live in six states from Maryland to California), their partners, and their children (our grands) at the lodge, about 20 of us total. The lodge met our needs perfectly! The kitchen is outstanding, with high end appliances. We prepared and ate all meals in the lodge through our 3 day stay. The common rooms were spacious and comfortable. No one complained about the beds after full days of boating/tubing/skiing/swimming on the lake! The public boat ramp was very convenient by both land and water, which was a nice timesaver. Both Sarah and Jason were extremely responsive and helpful hosts. We would definitely stay here again. The kids and grandkids are already asking when we’re going back!

Great for a Friend Trip

We stayed at Blackwater Lodge for an annual friend trip and it was fantastic! Loved it! Very comfortably slept our group of 9. The cabin itself was very clean and easy to navigate. The spaces to gather were great! It is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for, I guess. The only regret is not getting more time to fully utilize everything there is to offer with the property!

We thought each bedroom would have a bathroom, wrong not that bad but not expecting that, the Lilypad, kayaks and all water related items were super, grand kids loved it. We rented the pontoon, and it was great. Very roomy house very small outside deck. Overall was great for our family.

Family Vacation

Overall the house was really nice, the property was great and the lake was excellent, perfect size for us. It was very hot and the house cooling wasn’t able to keep up, so I’d take that into account if you're coming in the peak hot months. The theatre room looked really nice, but was unbearable due to the heat, so we really didn’t use it. We did rent the pontoon and it was great. One thing to keep in mind is that they provide a 6 gal tank to refill and its 10-15 min to the nearest gas station. So, if you use a lot of gas you'll be making a lot of trips to fill up, that was a bit of a surprise for us. Other than that it was amazing. The music playing throughout the house and outside was a big plus. They provided fire wood for the fire pit and that was great. The family had a great time. Not sure I would come back due to the cost, but if you can afford it or wanted to splurge I’m sure anyone would enjoy it.

Best of vacations

Everything was great and lots of toys for kids. Enjoyed the fire pit and sand to play in. The kitchen was well stocked and appreciated the paper products furnished. Would truly recommend this property for all ages.

Lake getaway

We had a family gathering at Blackwater Lodge with 15 people. The property was beautiful. Plenty of space for everyone. A very quiet lake. We would definitely return.

Company outing

Sarah was amazing from the very beginning between communication and all the questions we had. When we got the property we talked with Jason who was just as amazing to work with. They were always quick to get back to us and were always available. The pictures do not do this place justice on the beauty of the house or the location. There were neighbors in the area, but they were far enough away and the house was surrounded by trees that you felt like you were alone on the lake. The house was big enough that everyone was able to have their space and room. They had everything we needed in the kitchen to prepare food for everyone. The kitchen was big enough that people could cook and still be around and not be in the way. They had movies, toys water toys available. Everyone was able to take the pontoon out and go for a nice ride around the lake. The firepit by the lake was a great place to hang out and relax after a long day of activities. There were a few ducks that hung around the docks, they didn't seem to be phased by people. They stayed on their perch and just watched. It was neat to be able to be that close and see them. The views from every point in the house was breathtaking. The only thing with the main floor master bedroom is at night the stars are relaxing to fall asleep to, but if you wake up because there is light in the room don't stay in there since there aren't any curtains. Highly recommend staying at the house. The hosts were amazing the house and location was phenomenal.

Family reunion

This was the perfect place to celebrate my moms 80th birthday. Our whole family was able to gather & enjoy the beauty of the north woods and beautiful lake. We kayaked, tubed, fished, had fires, played games, bird watched, cooked great food, enjoyed a slideshow on the family room tv. Thankful for a beautiful home with room for all of us. Great memories were made. The communication w/the managers was quick & responsive. Highly recommend!
