You could not ask for a better location. Private and quiet on a beautiful stretch of beach that you can have practically to yourself any time of day. Plus a nice large pool, a nicely landscaped yard, and all the ammenities you could want. It was great to meet Greg (the owner) and spend some time chatting with Alex and listening to his endless supply of travel stories. The location is a perfect spot for exploring Dominical, Uvita, San Isidro, and the surrounding area. There is no shortage of interesting places to eat (make sure to try Por Que No?, Jolly Roger's, Roadshack Deli, and Charter). Even better, get the fresh Tuna from the fresh fish "window" just down the street and grill up some BBQ yourselves. Great (and cheap) fresh fruit is available everywhere, including pineapples, cantelopes, and watermelons for $1 each, and big juicy mangoes for 60 cents. Explore the crazy dirt roads with your 4WD for some great views and maybe some wildlife sightings. We saw a troop of Howler Monkeys on an off-road excursion. Fun tours we did were the Hacienda Baru zip-lines, horseback riding to Nauyaca waterfalls (complete with insane cliff jumping for the thrill seekers), and whale/dolphin scouting with Bahia Adventuras (we saw dolphins!). The fruit and vegetable market (Thu) in San Isidro was also fun to see, as were the surfers at Playa Hermosa. The "guest house" was perfect for the two of us with a fully equiped kitchen, AC, and a great porch facing the ocean. We are already planning another two weeks at this hidden paradise. Some lessons learned from our first trip are as follows. Let Alex help you rent a car through a local company like Wild Rider. We rented through Alamo/National/Travelocity and got jerked around for HOURS over the quoted ins. rates and ended up paying more than Wild Rider's all-inclusive quote. Also let Alex book your excursions. He knows all the best providers and can sometimes get better rates. It was so helpful to have him around the property when we needed him. His "tour around town" was VERY useful, and we even saw White face monkeys at a great hill-top bar that we probably would have never found on our own. He'll show you where to find the bank, the pharmacy, the best grocery stores, and anything else you need to find, even which of the multitude of Ceviche stands to try (and you should try it!). If you go, say hi to Baggs for us...what a sweet dog :-) A true adventure and also a relaxing and educational vacation.
