This is the second time in 2 years that we’ve stayed at this house. The first was a 5 star experience. This time, not so much. I still love the location, layout of the house, well stocked kitchen, grill and screened porch. But the house is showing definite signs of wear and tear and needs some attention. The house has a strong mold smell and several places where mold growth is visible. I texted the company about the mold. They responded saying they would contact the property care taker but no one ever contacted us to follow up. At least we would have appreciated the filters changed to trap some of the mold. The odor absorbers I purchased did help with the smell, But Allergen filters are needed, especially since the dust on the return vent was an indication that the filters hadn’t been changed recently. Also, The dishwasher is struggling to clean and dry dishes. They seem to have tried some DIY repairs with the foam placed under the dishwasher, But the mold in the dishwasher and warping on the counter and floor around the dishwasher tells me that it may be the source of the problem. We will 100% return to Kiawah but sadly, we will not be renting this house again.
