We enjoyed our stay at the Shoofly retreat. Everything was as described in the listing. Our boys, ages 3 and 6, enjoyed the waterfront location and the openness of the house. The kitchen layout made it great to cook and we utilized the grill outside also. The house was large enough to accommodate our family of 8 and everyone had ample space. We enjoyed seeing the wildlife (crabs, starfish, sea cucumbers, and harbor seals). It was far enough away from town to enjoy the peacefulness at night, but close enough that if we needed to pick up something from the grocery store it was only a quick 15 minute drive. The only minor, if any, suggestion would be for the cleaning staff to use less pine sol. There was a strong smell of cleaner when we arrived, but to some that might be a positive knowing the house had been recently sanitized. The host was very easy to contact and the check in/out process was straightforward. Thank you to Tuyen and her family for sharing their home with my family and we will be back to the belfair area soon. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to have a family get away.

Incredible stay in Belfair

Our family of 9 had a wonderful stay in Belfair. The home was the perfect size for our family and had all amenities we could have asked for. The location is perfect - just 10 minutes from the gas station, coffee shops and the grocery store. There is a great taco truck next to the winery and a wonderful tattoo parlor in this area too. Tuyen was very responsive to all our questions; we did have some issues with getting the doors to open but was no fault to the owners, however she was very helpful. We rented the kayaks and paddle board which our family enjoyed. We saw the seals with their pups, otters and lots of crabs along the beach. Thank you for the wonderful memories! We will come back again one day!

Amazing Beach Home for Family Gathering

This beach home of 3800+ sq footage was perfect for our 6 adults and 4 kids (ages 4-7) for our first family gathering. Loved the flooring on the main floor, the large couch accommodations couldn’t be better for all ten of us to view shows on the large TV, kitchen was a great size for 4 people to prepare meals at the same time. The upstairs was the kids own bonus room with the air hockey and hoop ball activities as well as their own comfy couch for their shows. However, with the fantastic weather we had, they were outside on the beach or riding with their parents on the kayaks, playing hide and seek outside and completing their Gramma’s infamous scavenger hunt around the property. I couldn’t have picked a better place for both children and adults to enjoy on our weekend. We all wished it could have been longer. I can’t express our enjoying this “piece of heaven on earth” enough. Thank you Hung Family for our amazing weekend!

Essence of the Hood Canal

One of the best rentals my friends and I have stayed at to date. This home is just as beautiful as the pictures, if not more so. The backyard and its access to the water is the best feature of this property. We were able to kayak and fish which was relaxing and wonderful after spending a long day visiting Seattle. A lot of other rentals in the area were smaller, more expensive, or didn't have any features that made them worth staying at. The home is stocked with several kayaks, a paddle board and an abundance of life jackets. We hadn't thought parking was going to be a plus, but this property has a large private parking area down a fairly private road. We brought five cars and it was still very spacious parking. Tuyen - the property manager/owner was extremely attentive to our needs and requests. She catered our welcome package with snacks and wine and prepped the house prior to our arrival. Her husband Thomas was also very accommodating. He answered a house call to address a small issue with the house and he even brought us cinnamon rolls and oysters. When we inquired about recreational fishing, he left rods and information about the chum count and tide times. This home itself was able to fit several adults comfortably and had additional air mattresses as well, with most rooms giving adequate privacy. Excellent facility for a larger group or family

We totally enjoyed the beach and water. The house is large enough for 4 or 5 couples or multiple small families. It is quiet and nicely remote from the road for safety and noise.

Family reunion

We had 12 people from 4-75 for a family reunion. Kids room was good but really only works for 3 kids, although we also had an air mattress in that room. Adults all had nice beds, although one of the bedrooms didn’t have a closet. Master bedroom is Hugh and we slept the 4 year old in there with her parents. We had a wonderful time, the grounds, beach, tidal area were great. Using the kayaks and the paddle boards was the kids favorite activity. Kitchen was large, even with several people working in it. With all of us we could have used more sitting in living area. My biggest concerns were that kids bathroom had barn door on bathroom, and teenage girls want total privacy. Also the master bedroom doesn’t have blinds on doors, and gets light very early in June. House was clean, had lots of kid activities, and we had a good time.

What a great place and location!

I want to just open this review up by saying that we couldn't be happier with our stay at Shoofly Creek. Tuyen was great to work with and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Now the details: We wanted to rent a place where our spread out family could all get together for the holidays. There were 12 of us this year. Throughout the process of booking and preparing for the stay, Tuyen was incredibly communicative and accommodating. She even decorated the house with a tree and Christmas decorations for us! The instructions for entering the house were clear and well laid out as well as the description of amenities. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a welcome gift basket of snacks, wine, and even a couple of toys for any kids we would have brought. We felt this was incredibly thoughtful. The house was beautiful and had plenty of room for everyone. We all commented that it was one of the best stocked vacation rentals we have seen with regards to appliances and a well supplied kitchen. We arrived in the evening so we didn't get to enjoy the view until the morning but we definitely weren't disappointed. There is an awesome creek that runs alongside the property with Kingfishers that were great to watch. The canal was therapeutic to look at through the wide open windows and there is a family of seals that hangs out front as well as otters and eagles. The amount of shoreline that gets exposed at low tide is impressive. The house worked really well for us and would be even better if we were a family that had younger children as they have set it up to cater to them with a large rec room upstairs with all kinds of games as well as plenty of room outside for them to run and explore. In the end, this place was exactly what we needed and think it would be even better to stay in the summer to enjoy the water on a different level. Perfect family getaway!

We had such a lovely time at this place in hood canal! Perfect amount of space for our large family. Really appreciated the highchairs, baby bath and and toys that were readily available for use. We had 3 babies under 2 and it was so nice to take advantage of that. Would recommend as family friendly and to anyone looking to be by the water.

Great for a large group, our family was very comfortable. The beach access was awesome. Could have used some shade on the hot days, but otherwise a lovely spot. Excellent communication with property managers - almost immediate replies with our questions - and they gave us complete privacy.

So amazing

Loved this property so much. The views were amazing. Sleeping accommodations were perfect and so much to see and do. They were so great to work with and helped with anything at any moment. We truly enjoyed this trip and hope to make it back in the years to come!!

Family reunion on hood canal

Property was fun for all ages. Owners were very easy to work with. This is someplace that we would consider again in the future.

Great for groups w kids

We just finished a lovely 6 day stay w 3 kids and 6 adults. There was plenty of room for the kids to play and for the adults to hang out. The stairs are a bit precarious for our two early walkers so we kept a close eye on them. Despite one baby doing a LOT of crying at night, the rest of us slept—no problem. Good insulation between floors! The kitchen is spacious w lots of room for lots of cooks and easy access to the backyard to enjoy meals outside. The view is fantastic, the sunsets a peachy pink. The garage of toys, bikes, scooters was a hit w the kids. The adults kayaked daily. We played in the hood canal a few times a day and my preschooler mastered blowing bubbles through her nose in the warm waters. We saw tons of baby crabs. Lots of ocean learning. It’s a great spot to come w a group and cook meals together, enjoy the PNW beauty together, and recharge. We’ve already started thinking about coming back.

Amazing memorable getaway

My wife and I had the most amazing time at this waterfront property. There’s a ton of wildlife you can see from the backyard and the views are just breathtaking. The hosts were very accommodating and have great suggestions for food and activities to do in town in a neat little guest book. We ordered the best pizza I’ve ever had based on those suggestions. The house is huge and cozy! We can’t wait once COVID is over to take family and friends. We’ve been to a lot of rentals but this one was by far the best one we’ve ever stayed at.

Nice Hood Canal Getaway

The property is large and as-described. There is, especially at low tide, a lot of tidepool and waterfront shoreline - many other properties are right against the water. The house was large and fairly well equipped. The game room was nice too. Some of the equipment is older and worn - there are bikes and toys provided but all were flat and the pump was broken. One thing to note is that there is no cell reception at the property - when you're arriving be sure to have your details saved from your email so you know the door codes, etc.

Wonderful time had by all

The house and location are wonderful. The whole family enjoyed the two kayaks, the views and the water. The house was nice. The kitchen could have been better equipped and the dishwater kept falling out when loading and unloading. The master bedroom has an incredible view but the bed was so hard my legs were numb when I woke up after the first night and had to sleep in another room after that. All in all though we loved our time at this special place.

Great vacation.

Nice clean house surrounded with great nature. Easy to find everything from the first hour. Beautiful water frond with spectacular tides exchange. Recommend to anyone.

Lovely stay

This spacious yet cozy house was perfect for our family with three teenagers. The master has a spectacular view and deck, and plenty of rooms for everyone to have their own space, while still having plenty of spaces for family time. We enjoyed the indoor bonus room, basketball hoop, kayaks, excellent TVs. The lot is huge so there is relative privacy and the house has an unusually large amount of tideland. Tuyen was so incredibly responsive- it makes such a difference! The prior guests had left a bit of a disaster on the morning of our arrival and Tuyen was so great communicating with us about it, even arranged for a new kayak and fans to arrive during our visit and waived our cleaning fee. The kitchen is layed out perfectly for cooking for a large group and watching the canal. It wasn’t as well stocked as other places we’ve stayed but all the essentials were there and there was a nice welcome gift of wine and snacks. Kids didn’t want to leave and we’re already planning when to go back. Success!!
