The apartment is set back behind another building, so away from the road. The access doesn’t give a reassuring impression - you have to navigate through a private parking area (not available to use) and up 40 industrial-style metal steps, but once through the door, the spacious living area becomes apparent.
The kitchen seems to be well equipped, though because we spent a lot of time visiting friends/family, we only used the fridge, kettle and toaster.
There’s a good shower in the main bathroom. It would have been nice to use the roll-top bath in the large bedroom, but we couldn’t get the water flowing sufficiently.
We ended up needing to stay for longer than we’d intended so had to do some laundry, so the washing machine was welcome. We knew the tumble dryer wasn’t working as the host had advised us before we arrived, but there’s a launderette just 100 yards up the road.
We slept really well, probably due to it being so quiet.
This is a reasonably priced apartment for what you get. Be openminded about what to expect. This is not a hotel-style apartment, it really feels like someone’s home, with lots of personal belongings around adding to the character and feel of their home.
Despite it’s quirkiness, we eventually settled in and feel we would be happy to stay again. Ultimately, the attention, understanding, communication and flexibility of the host, Maud, sealed the deal for us.
Thank you.
