The cabin itself was wonderful—cute, clean, well-maintained, and clearly cared for by the host’s family. The setting had so much potential for a relaxing getaway.Unfortunately, the major downside was the host’s large dog, who roams the property freely 24/7. While friendly in temperament, the dog was very intrusive—jumping on us repeatedly (including my young niece, who he humped and accidentally scratched) and showing aggression toward my own dog, who I paid to bring along. Their dog would often stand right in front of our cabin and start tiffs with my dog, making simple things like taking my dog out to use the restroom a stressful ordeal. Several times we had to run from our cabin to the truck and hope the dog wouldn’t chase or attack. I brought these concerns up with the hosts, but nothing was done to manage or restrain their dog during our stay. This situation made it impossible to fully relax. The pool—one of the main reasons we booked—was also directly off the hosts’ back deck, and we were told their dog might “jump in and give us a hug” unless we tied him up ourselves. This meant swimming would have required actively managing their pet, which really isn’t what I expected when paying for a vacation rental. While I truly loved the cabin itself, the ongoing dog issues turned what could have been an amazing stay into a stressful one. Future guests should be aware that this is very much a shared property environment with a dog that more than once was a liability for us.
