We appreciate constructive feedback and it's unfortunate when someone doesn't enjoy their stay to their highest satisfaction. That being said, we communicated with Tom copiously before, during and after his stay. Upon arrival, he indicated that he felt it was too far to walk to the crossroads so we offered to pay for a bike rental for the remaining 10 days of his stay, which he turned down. Much of his complaints in the review could have been circumnavigated with research as a first-time traveler to the area (specifically, Mal Pais is a "quiet, sleepy" little fishing village as described in the listing and he indicated that the town itself was too expensive for dining out) . We will incorporate some of this feedback into some updates to the property to be more 'costa rica' like--such as decor and paint; however, there was no deception neither in the pictures as a "European-chic aesthetic container-home" nor the representation of local area. Also, the beach is a swimming beach and has a public entrance for that purpose, but it does admittedly have some large craggy rocks running up the shoreline (often utilized for tidal pools during low tide). Mal Pais--or bad country or bad lands in local translation--is a hidden gem for some but I got the impression Tom would've liked the more populated and manicured beaches readily available elsewhere in CR.
