We arrived to a home not sufficiently cleaned to start of stay standards. We came to find the floor of downstairs bathroom soaking wet, the sink leaking and the shower constantly dripping. Most disappointing and unacceptable was the water from outside pouring into the house from the front bay window, soaking the floors and our footwear, as well as coming through the door of the upstairs queen bedroom soaking the floor and our luggage. Every door and window was drafty and whistling with wind and cold air the entire day and night. The one zone of heat had one level of the house too hot and the other level too cold, leaving nowhere in the home acceptably comfortable, especially in the winter. And finally, the bunk beds, which we
counted on as usable sleeping spaces, were so unsafe, wobbly and rickety and even had bars taped together?!?!? So people had to sleep on hard couches..
Finally, the upstairs bathroom (which was the only "usuable" bathroom) has mold on the ceiling, the tub enclosure is disgusting, the water knob is installed backwards so my young daughter almost burned herself. Additionally the plumbing is so poor that if someone in the house used water, the shower either got scalding hot or freezing cold.
We contacted the owner through Vrbo messages with no response. Then someone called the cell number provided on the reservation. They said they would refund 50 percent and then stopped answering. So no 50 Perct refund nor the refundable deposit was even refunded.
At this point we are beyond upset and feel that the listing was completely inaccurate. And the fact that communication has completely stopped on their end and nothing has been done to rectify this is a disgrace and tells me that they are more than aware of this issues within this property.
