Great location, but unfortunately cleanliness issues
The location was fantastic, within walking distance of a grocery store and delicious restaurants. The owner was also very responsive and offered wonderful local recommendations, which we appreciated.
One highlight of the property was the good back patio space, perfect for relaxing outdoors. However, there were several small inconveniences throughout our stay. The showers were tiny, which meant that the shower curtain touches you while showering, which isn’t ideal as it wasn’t clean.
The house is nearing its 100 year old birthday which is a fun fact, but it does mean that it has a bit of a musty smell and the rooms lacked sufficient outlets or any USB options, which made charging devices a bit challenging. Furthermore, there was no dishwasher, and the sponge provided for dishwashing wasn't new or clean.
There were some other cleanliness issues as well - the sheets had some stains and didn't appear to be thoroughly cleaned (small hairs were on the sheets near the foot of the bed). Additionally, there were some allergens in the house that affected my allergies. I'm not sure if it was due to dust or if a prior pet had lived there, but it was significant enough for me to have to seek medical attention and obtain an inhaler prescription.
Overall, while the location and responsiveness of the owner were positives, the cleanliness was lacking and potential allergens in the house may be a concern for guests with allergies.
