This is the second time weve stayed in HPP. This was a wonderful house. Very comfortable and CLEAN. Would stay here again.

Loved the quiet

It is a well-kept property. We really enjoyed the sunrise and the view from the terrace.You do need a car and it is quite far from all amenities, but if you don't mind, it is really a nice place to stay. The beds are comfy, we didnt need aircon, as there was always a breeze, only at night, the mosquitoes can be a little annoying outside, but all windows have mosquitoe nets.Lighting could have been a bit better in the second bathroom, but that is complaining on a high level. We would definitely recommend it for couples.

Lovely home

Lovely home on quiet street. This home is nestled at the back edge of the enormous neighborhood of HPP. It is directly on the ocean cliffs with dramatic views of the ocean. The whole house opens up to let in the cooling breezes and sounds of crashing waves. The home is very well equipped (kitchen, laundry and comfy beds) and lots of privacy but a short drive to grocery stores or downtown Hilo.

HIDDEN GEM!

The view was amazing! The house was very clean and comfortable, and it had everything we needed to make a nice dinner. The neighborhood was peaceful, quiet, and beautiful. We would definitely stay here again.

Very nice spot for vacation!

This is was a great place to use as home base while on vacation. It is a simple house with plenty of space for everyone. I would definitely book this place again.

Gorgeous Oceanfront Home!

The perfect oceanfront retreat awaits! This home has a wonderful covered patio that runs the length of the ocean side of the home. It’s a perfect place to hang out in the shade and take in the spectacular view. The home is nicely furnished and very comfortable and family-friendly. The owners were incredible helpful and responsive. Highly recommended!!

Great location - great price

Loved the place and location - beds were comfortable, attic fan was powerful (brought in ocean breeze making nites comfortable), and appliances and grill were pluses. There were just a few minor issues.1) on arrival, the door code was in error. We were able to get to Vacasa and they told us where a backup key was available. 2) they asked about how things were going after arrival, we said the remote tv batteries were dead and I offered to buy new ones. They said no, they would have them dropped off. The next day, they asked if dropping them off the following day was okay, I responded again, and no one came. We’re checking out today. It wouldn’t have been so bad if there was more than one tv or if they said “thanks for my offering to buy new ones, that would be fastest.”3) the network name and password on the welcome card was wrong, But Vacasa listed an alternative.4) we bought bottled water to be safe, as two documents were received. One said don’t drink the filtered water, and another said it’s fine.5) the view is phenomenal, but a caution about safety walking on the lava rock wall might be a reasonable thought.

Great views

While the interior was a bit dated and beds not too comfy, the views were outstanding. Sunrise never got old even on a cloudy or rainy morning. We’d choose this again if we return to the big island.

2nd stay!

We were thrilled to come back to Hale Kai for another stay. The home is even more comfortable than before. Great home base for Hilo, Pahoa, and Volcano. Can’t beat the ocean view reading and relaxing on the lanai.

Gorgeous Oceanview

Hella cliffs!

Nice little house for +/-6, awesome view, highly recommend driving gov beach rd SE of Hawaiian Beaches neighborhood. Inexpensive for what you get. Had trouble getting in on arrival (door was dead bolted) but a call to customer service set us straight with no delay. I’d stay in a Vacasa managed property again.

Great ocean front property.

This property has everything you need. Great cooling breezes off the ocean front deck keeps the entire house comfortable and makes for great sleeping. The home has everything you need if you want to cook in and is very well maintained. Thanks to the owners for providing such a great rental.

Beautiful ocean view! Peaceful, amazing star gazing!

I highly recommend this well kept cheery house. My friend and I called it our home for the week. The balcony has wonderful views of the crashing waves & cliffs. Perfect place to roll out your yoga mat or gaze at the stars! Thank you to the owners.

Amazing place!

We had 4 adults in our group and there was plenty of space for everyone. Bedrooms are a good size, and had plenty of storage for our things. The house was very clean and comfortable. It had everything you would need in a vacation rental. The wifi went out a few times, but that didn't matter. The house did get warm but the house fan did an okay job of cooling. The view and location are what put this house over the top! There is nothing like the waves crashing into the cliff!

Beautiful oceanfront home in Paradise Park

We loved how the entire back of the house was windows, offering an incredible view of the ocean. The deck right behind it was walled with glass, so the view is not impaired at all. The home was very clean and very comfortable. We grilled our dinners and made breakfast in the nice kitchen. It was fairly warm when we were there (unseasonably so) and so we really appreciated the whole-house fan

Pre- Honeymoon

Absolutely stunning views of the ocean, porch was a perfect place for sun bathing and meditating. We came to celebrate our engagement. We loved hiking to celebrate the State Shipman Park, swam with turtles at the Shipment park ocean. Although we loved the privacy, we also enjoyed the local bar and Restaurant with local bands playing on weekends with delicious local foods. I would return to celebrate my anniversary. The amenities were wonderful, full kitchen to large bathrooms, large living room and a work office space was so nice to have. Thanks you.

Hale Kai in HPP

Really great location. The house, however, was obviously cheaply built and cheaply decorated. It was also hot as heck! No insulation apparently, and no blinds in the great room to block the heat from the sun.There were ceiling and floor fans, but the ceiling fans were noisy. The kitchen was not well outfitted--as though someone made a list of utensils but had never cooked. We had a great time, but I will look for alternatives to Vacasa the next time I am looking for a vacation rental

Spectacular setting

What a spectacular setting. Right on the ocean and spectacular night time viewings of Fissure 8. We were quite disappointed as there was no air conditioning (initially) and the house was always super hot when we returned from a day out. However, opening the doors and windows and letting the sea breeze in cooled the house down pretty quickly. Plus sitting on the lanai was where we wanted to be anyway watching the waves crashing into the cliffs! Overall we really enjoyed the stay - maybe some updating in the kitchen would be good as facilities are quite dated but perfectly functional. Would certainly recommend this property to people.
