This property has a strict “no party” policy, totally understandable for SO many reasons. My friends and I were in town to celebrate our friend getting married, but we were in no way a rowdy crowd. More like, wear a silly hat to dinner, go to bed at 10, and then wake up early to go hiking. I explained to Daria that this was our vibe, and while it was “technically a bachelorette party” the reality is we are all grown women in our 30’s who aren’t interested in disruptive behavior. Too tired. Anyway with this knowledge, Daria approved our stay.
Upon check out, we briefly misplaced a spare key and a friend forgot something at the house. We came back and were met with an extremely angry, shouting person who “found evidence of a bachelorette party”. She also threatened the cost of having the entire house rekeyed due to the missing spare. It ended up being in my pocket. It took about 10 minutes to calm her down enough to show her the emails to prove Daria was aware we were technically celebrating our friend. This intense confrontation totally soured the end of our trip. I mean my hands were shaking as I showed her my correspondence with Daria.
I will say, this person ended up apologizing and things felt smoothed over on a personal level. However, professionally it was absolutely unacceptable behavior. When you consider the high cost of this rental, you would expect more tailored behavior from those involved with the property. House 5/5, management 1/5.
