Casa Contiki is an amazingly beautiful, relaxing, and unique place to stay!
The property has a couple of rental houses on it, one of which was under construction while we were there and one of which was also rented out. The shared yard/garden/outdoor kitchen area (shared between Contiki and their larger group building) were GORGEOUS and well kept, and full of interesting wildlife. The manager Joel was very helpful and was available if we needed anything during our stay.
The Contiki hut itself is open-air, with a helpful mosquito net over the bed, an outdoor shower, tub, and lounge pool area, and a nicely equipped kitchen. The cabinets and fridge need to be secured because the monkeys will do their best to break in and get your snacks!
We saw a variety of monkeys, frogs, lizards, and a large Iguana who lives in the tree by the hut.
You absolutely need a 4x4 to get out to the property, from PJ the road turns to gravel and serious potholes for about 30 minutes, then you turn off onto what, in the U.S.A., we would call a 4x4 track through several secluded properties and resorts near the beach. These roads are pretty standard for backcountry CR, but if you aren't a regular offroad driver they may seem very challenging. A high clearance 4x4 would be best, we did okay with a rental Renault but would have preferred higher clearance. Take your time getting there and bring all of your groceries for your stay - you won't want to have to run back into town.
