The photo above is a picture of — “Bay View’s…” Owner — taken when I was a Member of the “Voluntary Crew” of the HMS Endeavor-II — the replica of Captain Cooks Ship he used inThe late-1600’s to the early-1700’s, to discover and explore the “Hawaiian Islands,” and the islands of the South Pacific.
What a fabulous experience that was !!!
My ancestors immigrated to the Americas from Ireland, England, and Scandinavia. .
On my Mother’s side of our family, they came here on the Mayflower (1619), and in1632, when Sea CaptainSamual Knowles decided to settle here.
On my Father side, my 1st Rafferty Ancestor came during the War of 1812, after being “Shanghaied” into the British Navy.
A British Man of War sailed into Donegal & Sligo Harbor, in Ireland, lined up all the able-bodied men -- including my Rafferty Ancestor -– and gave them a choice -- They could "VOLUNTARILY JOIN THE BRITISH NAVY -- OR BE HANGED!!!” Amazingly, they all decided to "join the Navy and see the World.”
When his Ship came off the Coast of Massachusetts, my Rafferty Ancestor slipped overboard one night while "on watch", swam to shore, and became a very early "Undocumented Immigrant of the great “US of A.”

My family always lived close to the Sea on the "Jersey Shore." We always joked that the Sea runs through our arteries and veins.
I fell in love with the area – its people -- and with all its amazing historic sites and places and it fabulous coastline and beaches.
There is something special about the Atlantic Ocean and Coast -- ands its weather — and living near the Sea -- It's beautiful sunny days and its wild Nor-Easters and Hurricanes -- have all been elements for my family in making us feel at home here, in touch with nature & connected to our ancestors. For all these reasons, and many more, we have always planned to have a house by the Sea. "Bay View..." is now our little piece of "heaven on earth" for me & my Family !!

We love this Home we call “Bay View at Cape Cod on the ” and when it became available to buy in 2018, it was a “No Brainer” on what to do. We snatched it right up and bought it.
We chose this location because of the spectacular morning sunrises and the gorgeous panoramic views of Buttermilk Bay and the Cape Cod Canal. The waters here on Buttermilk Bay are very calm, even though Buttermilk, at the head of Buzzards Bay, are just one step away from the wide open Atlantic Ocean.
Because of its location, it is amazingly well-protected from the rough Atlantic Ocean Storms.
The gentle waters of Buttermilk Bay make it very safe for young children, and with fabulous, panoramic views from our home, we feel very comfortable when our children and grandchildren enter the water without us!
For 40 years, we have been bringing our children to the beaches of Cape Cod. We knew that we wanted to spend our summers here, swimming, fishing, tubing, boating, sailing, Kayaking and everything that the Cape has to offer for families and kids.
We decided to invest in our own Beach house so we can enjoy being at the beach anytime, and it is our great pleasure and joy to be able to share that experience with out wonderful guests.
Occasionally, our guests will honor us by deciding to have one of their important family or business events -- such as a family wedding or Anniversary -- or an 85th Birthday -- in our beautiful, beachfront home.*
*For such events, because of the large amount of additional preparation time and cleanup time, we sometimes find it necessary to charge a separate "Event Fee."

Our home is very comfortable and spacious and we enjoy large family gatherings and entertaining friends and extended family here.
Our kids and Grandkids stage sand castle competitions at our beach with the winner getting all the ice cream they can eat! We enjoy fishing, tubing, boating, windsurfing, paddle boarding and kayaking “in our back yard” as well as digging up clams, cohoggs, mussels, and oysters !!!
Let me tell you something -- No Clam 'Chowda', (as they like to say in New
England), ever tastes better when it is HOMEMADE from the fresh shellfish — and occasionally a lobster — you just spent time digging up or catching !!!
At night, we build a fire, in our Fire Pit in our back yard, and “make s’mores, and roast Hot Dogs on sticks,” and tell big "Clam and Fish Stories," while we gaze into the starlit sky to find Orion and Big Dipper.
I have the biggest FISH STORY OF ALL -- Three years ago, I had the pleasure -- and Honor -- of witnessing a baby and mother Whale swim right into our part of Buzzards Bay -- the Mother Whale watching her Baby, while her baby frolicked around right off our beach.
WHAT AN AMAZING EVENT THAT WAS !!!
It is very quiet and peaceful at our beach house but it's only a stones throw away from the Cape Cod Canal and the Bourne Bridge, making it very convenient to endless destinations and activities for the whole family.
As I said before, It's our own little piece of Heaven., and WE LOVE AND ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF IT !!! :)
