The hardest part was not being able to check in until 4pm after a long flight and the time difference. But it was a beautiful place and we all enjoyed our stay!

Our family of 6 (4 kids age 21 to 15) had plenty of space for all of us. The kitchen was a bonus for breakfast and lunches in the room. This was our first time in Maui, and hopefully not the last, and we will definitely stay here again.

Honua Kai Stay Feb 2025

This was our 9th time staying at Honua Kai and it is with regret to say our unit did not live up the reasons we continue to return to Honua Kai every year, some years multiple times a year. This unit had multiple appliances that were damaged, beds extremely soft/used, carpet loose and very worn, etc. Appliances had drawers not working, drains having clogging issues, fridge and freezer compartments that were falling off and/or very difficult to open. The biggest issue of all was the amount of cockroaches that were in the unit. The kitchen was infested with cockroaches from day one. When reaching out to the property manager we were told that this is normal as this is a tropical climate. This is the first time we have had a bug problem of any kind at Honua Kai and although I understand it is a tropical climate, you should not have to live with cockroaches. It took a few days for the property manager to send someone up to spray for the bugs which did help, but did not solve the problem. We have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars at Honua Kai and the up keep of the property has continued to decline. For what you pay to stay at Honua Kai I expect and demand much better. I will debate staying at Honua Kai going forward which is very unfortunate as this has been a great vacation spot for my family in the past but my confidence has been lost that this will continue to be an enjoyable place to vacation.

Fun Family vacation

7 adults had a wonderful time sitting on the veranda watching whales every day. Many memorable meals we had there as well. Have stayed in several units there before with better equipped kitchens though and cleaners left empty water bottles and previous renters socks under the beds. Some furniture was threadbare but overall the unit was nice. Would stay here again.

Great View and Amenities

We enjoyed our week at Honua Kai Konea tower last week. The overall property was well kept and the staff was friendly and helpful. The various pools offered something for every age group and it's super nice to have the ability for pool service at Duke's. It is a bit of a hike to the Whaler Village (approx.. 1.25 miles) but it's a great stroll before and after dinner. Additionally there was always live music along the way to take pit stops at and enjoy the stroll.

Fabulous Vacation in the most beautiful place!

This unit did not disappoint!! Spectacular view and everything was perfect. There were small issues (freezer wouldn't open) but the property manager responded quickly and fixed it immediately! My family had never been to Maui and they loved it. Honua Kai is a beautiful resort and the only place I'll stay! Thank you so much!

One of the best views at HKK

This was our 3rd stay at the Honua Kai, specifically the Konea building. This unit boasts the best view of any unit we’ve stayed in. It is spacious and has an awesome lanai. Never wanted to leave it. The property itself is hard to beat. With kids, you can make food, bring it down to the pool or the beach and relax all day. Parking is easy, the fish market and Slappy cakes are across the street. Dukes serves poolside - you really can’t beat it. The management team is very responsive - we had an issue with pests and they came right over. Besides that unfortunate issue that again was addressed as best the management company could, in my mind this is THE place to stay on Maui, especially for families and groups. We will be back again (hopefully sooner than later)!

INCREDIBLE ocean sunset views LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!

The title pretty much says it all. I wanted to see the whales and ocean from every room in the condo. My goodness did this place deliver. My 3 year old grandson wanted to open the drapes and see the ocean as soon as he woke up every morning. Sitting out on the lanai drinking coffee, listening to the ocean in the morning and watching sunsets and whales in the evening was just pure heaven. The condo was pristine spotless when we arrived! I’m very picky about cleanliness— I almost couldn’t believe how clean it was! The kitchen had everything to make gourmet meals from groceries at the in house markets and walking distance grocery store. The entire complex —pools/cabanas/water slide/beach front/flowers/landscaping—just beautifully laid out to perfection. Honua Kai condo 625–We’re coming back every year! Thank you so much for sharing this incredible place!

Excellent stay

Great property. Check in was a bit dicey but not the fault of the actual property managers. I suspect we showed up at a busy time and the door man was alone getting cars for people. Everything else was as advertised and we had an amazing time.

Fantastic views and plenty of space

We shared this property with 1 other family … 8 of us in total. It was perfectly suited for us. The kitchen is nice and made it convenient for cooking breakfast etc. Beds were comfortable! Property is nice and the pools are great here, have to get up early to grab pool chairs but other than that great.

Unit 625

We have stayed at this resort multiple times in different units. Love this place but this unit was a little disappointing as there were no kitchen knives to use to cut up any fruit or dinners made. When we arrived we found dirty socks on the lani and the unit wasn’t cleaned very well which is concerning.

Amazing property!

We had an amazing 2 weeks in unit 625! It is very quiet building. We had 8 of us and there was plenty of room. The lanai is amazing and it was fantastic to be able to open the wall to bring the outside in! Going to miss sitting on the lanai drinking my coffee and watching the whales jump. The evening sunsets were just as great! We loved every minute of our stay and will have memories of it for years to come. Would come back to this location for sure. Grocery store is within walking distance. The food trucks are within walking distance. The boardwalk along the beach was nice for a morning or sunset walk. Pools were warm and well kept. We had a few needs that took one phone call and they came and took care of. Thanks for an amazing family vacation!!

Condo review

We enjpoyed our stay here. I did not think the condo was as clean as I would have expected. It was ok. Some of the restaurant staff were rude and others were awesome. The check in process did not seem very welcoming and the couch is very uncomfortable but overall we enjoyed out stay here.
