Lovely stay at Casa Del Tren! The location is quiet and very close to town. Easy walk to shops and several good restaurants. The hosts are very responsive and accommodating and the house is comfortable and well appointed.

This property is in a perfect location to be able to enjoy all that Main Street in safety harbor has to offer. It sits back on a quiet street and is very private. The patio is a nice touch for kids and dogs. The owners had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.

Fun in Safety Harbor

Well equipped kitchen. It had everything I needed with a courtyard and adjacent yard for the dog. Many restaurants, bars, and a beach within walking distance.

This cottage was an excellent place to stay. We enjoyed the coffee, snacks and wine and grilled fish from the seafood market for dinner one night. We walked into town every day and thought Safety Harbor was lovely and had a laid back vibe. Farmers market on Sunday was fun!

Our stay at Casa del Tren was most ideal. The home was plenty big for our needs, it was a bright, cheery, peaceful space, it was very nicely appointed, the owners were very hospitable and always available should any questions have come up, the location is ideal with it only being a short walk to the downtown, the beds were comfortable and the place was kept clean. Casa del Tren was a wonderful base of operations for our adventuring in the area. Thanks so much, John and Ellen, for making our Safety Harbor vacation so positively memorable.

Holiday Visit

We had a lovely stay at Casa del Tren over the holiday. The home was comfortable and well-appointed with everything you need. It was very near to town, yet in a quiet and peaceful location. The fenced-in and well lit patio was great for our family and the hosts were very communicative and accommodating.

Great house close to everything.

The house was great, it was cute, very clean and had everything we needed. The back patio was wonderful to sit outside in the evening. It was close to restaurants and shops. Would definitely stay again!

Wonderful Stay!

John and Ellen are FANTASTIC hosts! They truly care about their guests, pay attention to every detail to ensure comfort, and are readily available to answer any questions and help in any way. And Casa del Tren is a wonderful home nestled in a quiet area and so close to everything! My husband and I (and our sweet dog) had a marvelous time! We will definitely be back and have recommended their homes to all of our friends and family :-)

Safety Harbor Retreat - Walk Most Anywhere

At the end of a dead end street, beside a church, lies a hip oasis that delivers on every prior review/rating. We will be back whenever in the area again. The hosts were great and checked in on us to ensure a great experience.

Great house and location

My experience renting this property is very positive. Cleanliness deserves a 10 on a 1-5 scale. Location was only two block from Main Street. I would definitely rent this property again!!

Life in Safety Harbor

I loved the area, lots of places to walk and visit, Folly Farms is a fun place. Many good eating place in SH and out on 19. Shopping was easy with several Publix nearby. Lovely boardwalks along Tampa bay with the Pelicans diving into the water for fish. Weather was good too. Loved the small town atmosphere and slow living.

Great location

Really loved the city and location. Favorite restaurants were Barfly and Gigglewaters for movie and dinner. Discovered Woodys seafood in palmetto and farmers market - detwilers. Owners were always available to us. Home was very clean.

Gracious thoughtful hosts

This is a lovely cottage, very comfortable, very clean. John and Ellen, the hosts, left snacks and bottled wine as welcome gifts. John was readily available for questions. the property is on a deadend street, the neighborhood is lovely for walks, just a few blocks to the charming town of Safety Harbor, quite close to Phillipe Park. Just a lovely place to stay.

Unique & adorable property in Safety Harbor

Our stay at Casa del Tren was wonderful! We love the fun vibe of Safety Harbor-and the location of this property is perfect-so close to downtown! The house is clean, very nicely decorated, and had absolutely everything that we needed. John was so responsive to any questions that we had or anything at all that we needed. All we could ask for!

Everything is well thought out at Casa del Tren. All we could need in the kitchen, laundry and bathrooms are provided. It’s very close to Main Street, we walked the town! The outdoor lights above the patio are so festive and plenty of natural light inside. It’s an absolute treasure!

Hi, this is John, and my beautiful wife Ellen :)
We are your fun-loving hosts at Casa del Tren!
I grew up on a farm south of Nashville TN. I am currently managing IT in a software company that also has an office in the Tampa Bay Area. When I am not pounding on the keyboard, I involve myself in renovating houses, gardening, cooking, and entertaining friends and family.
My wife Ellen was born in China, a true city girl, her interests are more in art & Electrical Engineering. She came to the states to research high-voltage transmission, but I really think she came here to find me and my secret BBQ recipes ☺
We love to travel together and everywhere we go we try to stay away from hotels, staying with locals is way more fun. We also share a common passion to renovate and revive interesting older homes.
Ellen and I completely fell in love with Safety Harbor upon our very first visit. Known as the Hidden Gem of Tampa Bay, Safety Harbor is voted No. 1 of the Most Charming small cities in Florida. It offers amazing natural beauty as well as award-winning restaurants, pubs, and shops as well as tons of unique festivities. Best of all, the locals are simply the friendliest people we have ever met.
We have since renovated 4 vacation homes in Safety Harbor. Casa del Tren is one of the most FUN ones! It is dearly loved by us and our guests because of its unique Fun factor and Location.

Fun Facts that You have to know :)
Casa del Tren, the Spanish name for the Train House, is fondly named because of its unique location. Safety Harbor is an old railroad town and as such, one remote end of Casa del Tren's yard is bordered by the railway.
Yes, a train does come by every now and then, typically 6 to 8 cars, that come and go in less than a minute. You may stay for days and never see or hear a single train. But if you are blessed with good luck and hear one passing by, would you please log it down and share it with us in the guest book? :)
