First let me say what an unbelievably beautiful part of the world the Teton Valley, surrounding area, Teton National Park & Yellowstone are. Simply incredible & a place everyone should visit if given the chance.
As for the cabin; The good: as others stated it’s clean, the owner is very nice & available if you need anything. It has everything you need for cooking, laundry & cleaning. It has a rustic charm, is on a very quiet road & has a nice “homey” feel.
The to be aware of: The mattresses are just ok. My back ached from day 2 on. I admit I’m a bed snob, but in a day when memory foam mattresses are so easily accessible & affordable there’s really no reason not to equip a $200 a night rental with them. But depending on your preferences you may have no issue.
In others reviews you’re made aware that the owner stays “on the back of the property.” In reality she’s your very close neighbor. I didn’t measure but I’d guess the houses are 60~ish feet apart. Quincy is very quiet, other than a few car & garage doors I never knew she was there. But she was. Right there.
Well water, if you’re familiar it’s a non-issue. If you’re not, be prepared for the smell.
The commute, it’s about an hour over Teton Pass (which is a beautiful drive) to Jackson/GTNP & roughly 2 to Yellowstone. If the parks are your main priority stay on the WY side, you’ll save yourself a ton of time.
The bad: The views, there are none. You can walk to the end of the drive (which isn’t long) & see some hills on the other side of the highway but that’s about it. From everywhere else there’s just trees. The picture of the mountains in the property photos is misleading at best. We had to drive several miles north of Victor to see that view.
A creek is mentioned in the owners description, I never saw one. In fairness I didn’t look for it but if it’s there it’s seasonal & tiny. No matter to me, but if you’re expecting a creek you’re likely to be disappointed.
The shower floors, both are rock, I get it we’re in the mountains, but both are uncomfortable. The entire upstairs bathroom floor is small rocks, uneven, uncomfortable rocks.
The cleaning fee & being asked to do a fair amount of the cleaning yourself. You’re aware of this going in so you’ve got no one to blame but yourself. However when you’re actually doing it you’re definitely struck by the absurdity of it.
Overall I would recommend this place, but it’s just ok. $200 a night should buy you more.
