I gave this place 5/5 stars because of the great location and high quality of the room, but could have given it a lesser rating because of the weird way this place holds reservations.
First, the location is pretty unbeatable. It's a close walk to the historic district, city market, King Street, etc. And even though it's right in the center of the action, there's a bit of privacy as it has a large courtyard in the center of the property with a fountain and some tables and chairs. All things considered, the location is pretty unbeatable if you're staying in downtown Charleston.
The quality of our unit was fantastic. There was PLENTY of space. Bathroom was very nice. Linens and things were high quality. Felt like we were staying in a local resident's condo. Lots of closet space, too.
Now to the weird part about reservations. First, when we arrived, we were told that our reservation was "split" between two different units. So the first night, we had to stay in one unit, which was a lesser place than what we paid for (didn't have a full kitchen). Then, we had to switch rooms the next day and ended up being without a room for like three hours (which was mostly ok because we intended to walk around downtown anyway, but was still annoying). When we finally got to our new room, it wasn't the same room that was shown in the pictures on the original listing (this was fine as the unit was still very nice and fit the description of what we paid for).
Overall, with the exception of the "room switch," we had a great experience here. This makes for a perfect spot to stay if it's your first time in Charleston as it puts you within walking distance of so much the city has to offer. One other nicety is that this place has a hotel-like "front desk" where you check in. They were able to hold our bags for us on our last day there as we had a late flight and wanted to walk around the city for awhile after checking out, so that was another big plus.
