We just returned from a wonderful trip to Madeira. We spent about 3 weeks in Ponta do Sol in this wonderful villa - Casa Araujo.We loved the view from the house. The house was clean, check-in and communication with host were excellent. he wifi extenders were replaced when we pointed out that they weren’t working. The location was very quiet. We were in great shape from walking into town and back daily during our 3 week visit. We’ll definitely miss the workout when we return home! Very convenient location for driving around the island. All the restaurants in Ponta do Sol were excellent. We look forward to returning to Madeira, as this was our first visit.

Very nice appartment, very spacious, very clean and nicely furnished, with beautifull view on Ponto do Sol. Contact with Nelson and owner very good and very helpfull!Central located to reach all of Madeira.We can recommend it very much.Thanks again for very nice stay.

I don't normally do many reviews, but my wife and I were thoroughly impressed our stay here. The pictures are great, but they still don't do it justice. Everything was clean and tidy, and there's a lot of room throughout the house. The view from the balcony's-there's two-is truly amazing!Nelson was without a doubt, one of the nicest people that you will ever meet! He went way above and beyond to help us during our stay!

Beautiful view

House v clean, parking on owners driveway next door, fabulous welcome and treats, walkable from village but harder with family after swim! Lovely quiet, nice view, wifi difficult in all rooms, good air con. Recommended.

Spectacular Views

Place had an amazing view of the town and the host was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and we enjoyed the deck and the view of the ocean. My first impression of getting to VBRO was a little bit tense but by the second day I felt comfortable with climb and the narrow road to the VRBO. Our biggest issue was with the WI-FI.

Excellent Stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this picturesque home with its breathtaking views. Nelson warmly welcomed us and provided us with a list of recommendations and some wonderful treats! The home was comfortable with all the amenities you will require to enjoy evenings at home if desired. It was an excellent location to venture out and see the sites. However, you will definitely need a car and parking was available in a convenient location next to home. Overall, we loved our stay and would come back in a heart beat!

Gorgeous place with a view

We loved our stay here. The location was great - could even walk to a small restaurant/bar up the street. Incredible view and the hosts were lovely. Beds were very firm but that was our only slightly negative thing about the whole place. We loved it!

We came the second time here. All in one, perfect! You need a car too reach them, parking is free next to the apartement. We could recommend it very well. Thx the owner for the kindly welcome :-)

Amazing little slice of heaven!

Our stay at Casa Araujo was lovely. The house is comfortable, cozy and has everything you need. The most amazing thing about it is the million dollar view, breathtaking! Warm welcome with fabulous views

This property far exceeds expectations, the welcome from Nelson was friendly and informative and we thank him for the kind gifts of local produce. We had a comfortable stay with everything we needed and magnificent views of the sea and village. Good location for a walk down to the village and plenty of exercise walking back up which we did twice a day, beats going to the gym! Can’t recommend highly enough.

Hiking paradise

We loved our week in Madeira island. Ponto do sol was the oerfect appt to access every trail with no more than 45 min driving. Levada nova was our favorite hike and within 3k of rental. Rental was fabulous with million dollar views. The washer was so handy for muddy clothes after hiking. Check in/ out was easy. Parking was available next door. We would come again for sure! We used the recommended car hire from house manager. One thing about driving - you need a small car for the narrow roads but you need some power for the hills and sharp turns. This was one of the best holidays of our life. Thank you!

The Casa was very clean, big rooms and a large livingroom with a fantastic view to Ponta do Sol. The house was well equipped, we did not miss anything. Everything is like the pictures on the Vrbo-site. The road to the house is very steep – like many roads on Madeira - but we could park our car at the neighbours house which was easier to access. Ponta do Sol was a good choice because it was most of the time sunny and warm while it was more cloudy in the center and north of the island. We enjoyed our stay at Home Araujo very much

Very comfortable house and wonderful host!

This balcony view from this home was STUNNING, and the home very clean and comfortable. Our host was wonderful, and provided a lovely "care package" of traditional treats and wine, coffee, and home-produced eggs and bananas. Nelson was friendly, gracious, communicative, and provided recommendations and advice for our stay. For me, the highlight of our trip was hiking the Ponta do Sol levada - spectacular natural beauty of sea, mountains, waterfalls, plants and flowers. However, please be aware that there are sheer drop-offs, and this trail would not be suitable for young children or those who are not sure-footed. Thanks for a great vacation, Nelson!

Disappointment ☹️

The house was very clean and the propery manager, Nelson, helpful and friendly. However, the house itself needs redecoration: some appliances work poorly (gas cooker), are old and difficult to use. The kitchen was poorly eqipped, there weren’t enough cups, kettles, there’s no dishwasher and all seems used and outdated. The furniture in the house also seem old and not comfortable, the living room is poorly and cheaply furnished. The bathrooms are old and outdated. The house needs redecoration asap. What was also a nuisance is the third bedroom: it’s placed upstairs but with no door and our adult daughter wasn’t comfortable there at all. In general: we don’t recommend the house and wouldn’t like to return there, though we loved Madeira and will be returning to the island for sure. But not to this property ☹️

Perfect, clean and spacious house with a beautiful view

We were received by Nelson who made us feel welcome. Nelson was easy and accessible to get in touch with. He showed us around the house and was a super host, so cheerful and kind! The house is very spacious and clean. There are three terraces. We used the terrace In front of the living the most. Maybe if there would be some garden furniture on the rooftop, we would have used that one also. The beds (all box springs) were good and it was nice that there are more bathrooms (3 in total! There is also a bathroom in the outdoor kitchen!) The shower is really nice and the bathroom was spacious, clean and comfortable (with even a bubble bath which we didn’t use). We also were happy with the fan in our bedroom. The living room has new furniture, different from the pictures. It all looks nice and modern. And there is an attic with two more beds (boxsprings). So you have three different bed rooms and six sleepingplaces. We had a lot of privacy and the view from the terrace…. Wow, we loved it! We have spend a lot of time on the terrace, also in the night it is nice to look at the lights of the village. And beneath the terrace is a beautiful banana grove. The kitchen is wel equipped and has everything you need. The washing machine is a plus. In the night it is very quiet and you have all the privacy because the property is closed by a big electric fence. The car is easily parked above the house. Just be aware of a steep climb back from the village (20m)

Breathtaking View, Lovely House

Casa Arugo became our home for 3.5 months. We did not want to leave. The beds were so comfortable & there are 3 washrooms. It was great having the convenience of a washing machine as well. The host, Nelson is amazing. The owners were always accomodating & helpful when needed. The house is spacious, large, private, clean, new & has all the comforts of home but the view from the main very large balcony is spectacular. Words cannot describe the beauty you will wake up to every day from inside or outside as the entire wall to the outside is glass sliding doors. There is a second level balcony that is marvelous. The BBQ room is gorgeous. We used it many times for ribs, chicken & fish that we purchased at the large Continent grocery store in Ribera Brava. The house location is perfect to explore the extremely quiet neighborhood on foot. It is Madeira so it is hilly. The town of Ponta do Sol is a short walk where you'll find a smaller grocery store for all your needs. It also offers delicious baked bread & desserts as well as a coffee shop. There's a small enclosed mall. A little further is the beautiful ocean where you can swim. Also a five minute walk from the house you will find 2 convenient local taverns offering excellent food & drinks at unbeatable prices. It is best to have a car because there is so many incredible places to see on the island. Be sure to do your research for the many sights. Parking is convenient & safe right next door on the owners property. Madeira is one of the most beautiful places you will ever see. Staying at Casa Arugo was the perfect choice for us. We hope to return for another long stay next year

Traumhaus mit Blick auf Ponta do Sol

Ein toller Wanderurlaub auf Madeira. Das Haus ist sehr gut ausgestattet, es fehlt an nichts. 3 Bäder = Luxus. Es bietet Platz für 6 Erwachsene. Die Aussicht von den 2 Terrassen ist grandios! Wir haben jeden Tag draußen gefrühstückt. Besonders hervorzuheben auch der offene Kamin zum Grillen. Der Empfang und die Betreuung durch Nelson - einfach super. Er ist 24/7 verfügbar. Vom Haus in den Ort dauert es zu Fuß 10 Minuten; zurück wegen der beträchtlichen Steigung 20 Minuten. Im Ort gibt es eine kleine Auswahl an Restaurants. Direkt an der Tankstelle befindet sich ein gut ausgestatteter Supermarkt. Einige Wanderungen kann man direkt vom Haus aus starten. Besonders zu empfehlen ist die Levada Nova. Wir hatten ein Mietwagen, waren dadurch sehr mobil und haben Wanderungen auf der ganzen Insel unternommen. Prinzipiell sollte man den Tag zum Wandern früh starten, sonst wird es bei einigen Wanderungen doch sehr voll. Fährt man mit dem Auto nach Funchal, gibt es direkt neben der Seilbahn ein Parkhaus. Wir waren 2 Wochen auf Madeira und werden mit Sicherheit noch mal wiederkommen! Vielen Dank Nelson.
