Having missed out on a summer holiday, my partner and I decided to take an early Autumn break. We wanted to drive from the UK, and as wine buffs we wanted to be in the Burgundy or Beaujolais area. This house is not in the middle of the vineyards, but we were attracted by the rural location and promised tranquility, and we were able to make three visits to wine zones during our stay (Macon, Pouilly Fuissé; Lugny; Beaune). The house itself is impressive in size, has wonderful features (beams, stone walls, wood-framed brickwork, and has more than enough of everything in the open kitchen. The Bresse terrace is a wonderful traditional way of whiling away hours with a book or a game, and we were lucky enough to have plenty of warm days to sit out. This house is not for people looking for bright lights, wild nights out, or glamour...but as City people, it was just perfect for us. We both had an email free week, slept soundly - it is so quiet! - and I finally read some of the books I've bought over the last couple of years. As the owner says - it is a great place for winding down, and getting-away from it all.
