Grew up in Montclair NJ, living in north of shore of MA for past 20 years. Attended University of New Hampshire for undergrad, and Dartmouth College for graduate school (Tuck MBA). The building was designed and built by my father Chet Wisniewski in 1999. Chet was an apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright from 1946-47 at Talisen West in Arizona. He was an Architect and founding partner at David, Brody and Wisniewski (now Davis, Brody & Bond) in New York. He was also a Professor of Architecture at The Cooper Union college for twenty-five years.
The Shop building was originally designed as working wood shop and space to refinish sail boats. The building underwent a complete renovation in 2018/2020, to re-design and transform the space into an amazing home and vacation retreat. The building provides all the features of comfortable home & family retreat, but also maintains the character and dramatic architecture features of the original structure. The project was carried out by the studio Make Think Design. Make Think Design (MTD) is a multidisciplinary design and architecture studio led by Erin Pellegrino, merging making and thinking. Pellegrino is the founder and principal of the studio, with degrees in architecture from Harvard and Cornell, and currently teaches architecture and design at Cornell University and NJIT. The complete home renovation was complete in the spring of 2020.
