Overall, our stay at the Trade winds was okay. You cannot beat the location. We loved being right on beautiful Orange Beach. The pool was heated and warm.
BUT, there was so much construction in the building that you couldn't stay inside. Both units on either side of ours were being worked on every day and into the night. The sound of breaking up tile was deafening, especially in a building constructed the way these are. The sound carries everywhere. I dreaded going back to the condo. The construction could be heard from the beach. I understand that the Gulf was battered by the hurraine late last year. But, I feel that they should have relayed the construction ahead of time. In looking back through the listing, I did not see that.
The condo has a sofabed, however, it was broken. Springs were missing, and it couldn't support two people's weight. Our kids slept on the couches uncomfortably. Our boys found a smashed iPad stuck in the sofabed.
This is an old condo in an old building. The carpet in the bedrooms was disgusting, to the point where I didn't want to walk on it.
The beds were extremely comfortable, and the building was quiet once the construction stopped. It was nice having a washer and dryer in the condo.
One of the two elevators was also broken, so we had to wait several minutes for the only other elevator. We eventually gave up and started taking the stairs. We were only on the fourth floor, so it was manageable.
This was a get-what-you-pay-for situation. This condo was reasonably priced for its location, and I now know why.
If you choose to stay anywhere on Orange Beach right now, beware of ongoing construction in many of these buildings. I wish I would have been more thorough in asking questions about possible construction before we went.
