I am having trouble rating this hotel in a way that makes sense given the available metrics, so I will explain as best I can.
The King bed in the bedroom was very comfortable. The pullout couch was extremely uncomfortable. It was even less comfortable than one usually expects from a pullout couch. It seemed exceptionally cheap, which I imagine was the issue.
We did not open up that couch until very late, so when we discovered the only thing on the mattress was a mattress pad - and that there was no bedding for it anywhere in the room - no one was in the mood to go ask for some. We made do with none that night. In the morning, I asked for some at the front desk. Staff was friendly and apologetic: they told me they had stopped leaving bedding for the couch bed in the room at the start of the pandemic because they could not guarantee people would not use it, fold it, and put it back into the hanging bag in the closet. Fair enough, but it would have been nice if there had been mention of needing to request bedding for a room we had booked for three adults. Lesson learned: always check the couch bed.
The a/c was very effective but sometimes incredibly loud. The level of noise fluctuated quite a bit, and the inconsistency was annoying and made it difficult to sleep when it got randomly loud. I cannot say whether this is an issue in other rooms.
The room had not been thoroughly cleaned. The refrigerator had sticky food residue in a couple of obvious places, and there were bits of dried food and someone's lost sunglasses in plain view just behind the TV stand. (I was not inspecting the room - this was almost the first thing I saw when I entered. The sunglasses were obvious, and when I went to figure out what they were, I could see a fair amount of dried food bits underneath them.)
Our biggest complaint was the strong smell of stale cigarette smoke in our non-smoking room. It was strongest in the bathroom and the sink space outside it, and it got *much* stronger when we ran the shower. It seems likely some guest or guests had smoked in the bathroom, hoping it would be less noticeable in there. It is unlikely this was one cigarette - it was a pervasive odor. It is not the hotel's fault some people cannot follow basic rules, but the odor was strong, unpleasant, and not addressed.
The hot breakfast was nice to have, and there was plenty of food in spite of the hotel being at near capacity.
