Disappointed

The property manager was somewhat unhelpful.
The vacation rental was very dirty.
I was very happy with the location.
I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental.

First, we have stayed at Benchmark rentals several times before and were very satisfied. However, this time we were disappointed with the outcome of an issue we had at our recent stay. Location was good, but the condo unit was subpar mainly regarding cleanliness. We bought cleaning supplies and spent many hours cleaning it! Although, we did not report this until the end of our trip bc we had visitors coming and we had no other options for our 3 week stay. Our issues; we were unable to reach this company by phone or in person at their office after SEVERAL attempts for a couple of days. It was a busy time for them, however, each time I did hear from them via call or text they were apologetic. At the least, we expected to receive some compensation for the cleaning charge, but we did not. Several photos were sent of the filthy conditions that should have been shared with the owners. We didn’t even want to use the dishes or silverware or sit on the furniture or sleep in the beds so we washed everything and even steamed the sofa and chair and most everything with fabric. The unit was covered in heavy dust on the fans and lamps and other items and the bathrooms had hair and crud from previous tenants. This was disgusting and totally unacceptable so we felt the company or owners should address this in a fair way. They did offer us a very modest discount for a future visit during a non busy season. We know in life problems arise, but it’s how it’s handled that leave an impression. Ours is now sadly negative and we cannot fully trust the properties they represent. As we shared with them, there are other options to choose from.
