Beautiful home! The location was great and near our events. The home was clean and offered everything we needed. Beds were comfy and the pool was fabulous, even though it was too cold to swim but , maybe next time we will enjoy it. Thank you!

Furniture needs to be updated. The barstools are falling apart. We found screws and washers on the floor. The sectional in the family room was not adequate for three adults to watch TV comfortably. The sheets didn’t fit the beds. The towels were very thin and stained. There’s not even a plug-in in the downstairs bathroom. It would be nice to know that the master bath is open to the master bedroom so we had to keep the curtains closed the entire time. No instructions at house for operating spa, fire pit was not working from the picture posted, and there was a funky smell in the house. Frig had no working ice maker. We did like the proximity to restaurants in La Jolla but the noise from the street was heard every day from primary bedroom. No real view of ocean. Pool towels were plentiful. Gate remotes should have been set before we arrived.

If it wasn’t for the noise level of the location, this would have been a 5 star rating for us. Overall, we’d rate it a 4 or 4.5.•The villa is self-enclosed with an electric gate. The gate is excellent for feeling of protection, but does open/close very slowly. This can be a bit stressful when you are trying to turn into the driveway with crazy drivers behind you.•Beautiful views and lovely architectural design of the house.•Well-appointed activities – pool table, large indoor/outdoor Bluetooth speaker, comfortable living area with TV, plenty of table seating inside and outside, convertible table tennis/air hockey table in the oversized 3-car garage, pool and spa, cornhole games, hammocks•The villa is at the corner to two busy roads going up the hill, which causes quite a bit of traffic noise. This impacts the main suite which is at the front of the house.•The town is a short drive down the hill. While you could walk the .5 to 1 mile, the road is quite winding and busy. We wouldn’t recommend it.•We used the spa daily and some of us used the slide into the pool as a “cold plunge”. The listing is very clear that the pool is not heated. This was not an issue for us.•The outdoor pavilion is great for grilling and staging food for al fresco dining. •Orange and lemon trees laden with fruit and hummingbirds!The 4 of us were able to conduct separate meetings without issue.We voted and agreed we will return. AvantStay was fantastic to work with.

The property listing is accurate to what we experienced. The main complaint we had was the gate to get on to the property was completely broken and left open our whole stay. At first we felt a little unsafe and exposed because the property is on busy intersection but we kept doors locked at night and felt safe the whole stay. It's a really a nice neighborhood which also helped. The biggest complaint from the group was not having AC. This is common for homes in this area but be prepared to sleep in 75 degrees if it's a hot day in the area. They had a lot of fans which was helpful. The master suite did have AC which was great.Items that were not listed in property details but were included: Pool towels are included, pool floaties (assuming left from other guests), beach umbrellas which came in handy for our beach day. The communication with the host for our stay was great. They checked in daily and were quick to respond if we had questions.Overall all nine of us that stayed enjoyed the property and all the amenities.

Property management was attentive

I recently stayed at this rental property, and while the customer service was excellent, there were some significant issues with the house itself that I feel need to be addressed. The hosts were incredibly responsive, friendly, and accommodating, which made the check-in process smooth and stress-free. They were quick to respond to any questions I had, and it was clear they genuinely cared about providing a good experience for their guests.However, there was noticeable water damage in several areas, particularly around the walls and ceilings in the kitchen corner. This issue caused the house to have a strong musty odor throughout, which gave the entire space an unpleasant, moldy smell. The damage seemed like it had been there for quite some time, and it was clear that it hadn't been properly addressed. Unfortunately, the smell was strong enough to make it uncomfortable to fully enjoy the space on the main level.While I appreciate the great customer service and the overall layout of the house, the water damage and moldy smell were major drawbacks that really affected my experience. I hope the property owners take the necessary steps to repair the damage and resolve the issue, as this could be a fantastic rental with a little attention to upkeep.

Accurate property description

This place was perfect for our family. Check in and check out was easy. The garage door remotes were low on battery upon arrival, but the host fixed them right away.

Pool completely empty when arrived, customer service personnel are non-existent.

When we arrived it was completely evident that nobody looked over the home before our stay. I received an email 2 hours before my arrival that the pool “had to be drained” (without any explanation as to why) and I was assured it would be in working order by the next day. However, the built in pool-filler was barely putting out water so I was Instructed to fill the pool with the water hose myself by the AvantStay staff. I was assured I would be contacted by AvantStay’s customer service team to discuss compensation for the pool issue the next day, as we were unable to use the pool for a night and half a day and nobody contacted me. I still have not spoken to anyone from the company regarding compensation (4 days later) and have been told today via text that they’ve sent me emails and texted me but that is completely false. Besides the pool issue, the home had hot tub tiles laying out in the backyard, a long extension cord laying out, and shards of glass and a cigarette butt on the ground. There were also no fitted sheets on the bed and no mattress pads. The grill was “out of order”, and the outside noise is very loud with the windows opened and they need to be opened due to no air conditioning. All in all, you definitely do not get what you pay for at this home, and you certainly don’t get “luxury service” that AvantStay claims to provide.

The Stay was nice although there were a few things that can improve

The stay was beautiful! The house literally felt like we were abroad in Europe. They have a beautiful lemon tree which made the garden smell like lemons. My friends and I had a fantastic time and used the swimming pool and table outside for a Sunday brunch. There were a few things I felt that can be improved I do wish there was central AC or more window ACs because it did get hot at times. The hot tub did not heat up and I asked for extra sheets but there was a hair on it. Also the listing saying it can accommodate 10 people but I will say it was comfortable for 9. The 10th person had to squeeze on the bed with us. The sleeper sofa in the living room was dirty so we could not use that.

Nightmare on Via Capri Street BLACK MOLD

Black mold & needs renovations During our five day stay at this property in beautiful La Jolla we were horribly surprised at the current condition of the property. The guest bathroom in the upper floor is infested with black mold. Numerous holes in the wall were covered up with furniture. The entire hot tub needs to be updated as a majority of the tiles have fallen off. Countless dead bees and spiders surround the pool. We had to call the manager of the property to come and clean the pool so that we can safely walk without cutting our feet on the broken tiles. The outdoor grill, as pictured in the photos, does not function. We had such high hopes for this property, but it definitely needs some updating and attention for potential safety hazards. If I could rate this any lower I would!!!

Good property. Appreciate the additional grill while the other one was unavailable and the EVOO! The spa tile needs to be repaired. You had tiles that had fallen off in the pool and spa. This represents a liability. You also were not able to close the primary master bedroom door. Everything else was great and clean.

Great Luxury Home in La Jolla

The property was beautiful. The hot tub and pool were put to good use. Quiet neighborhood and very close to all the great restaurants and downtown. Easy check in and no issues with the home.

Great for families

Our family spent Spring Break here and had an incredible time. The pool is great for kids and they loved the water slide. Hot tub takes a bit to heat up but was great otherwise. The home itself is spacious and comfortable, with a great kitchen and the master bedroom/bathroom is exceptional. Would definitely stay here again

Hills above La Jolla

We had a nice time rediscovering LaJolla and relaxing. The family room off the kitchen was home base, though we made dinner nightly and enjoyed the dining room. Kitchen gear was spare but adequate for simple cooking. No complaints about the house, and the Avant communications were excellent. That said, we were very disappointed to be told shortly before our stay that the pool would not be heated. We were happy to pay the extra fee, and it was promptly refunded, but the heated pool was a primary reason to select such an expensive house. The hot tub was usable some of the time, but was programmed to shut off every few hours, so we would have to wait for it to heat again. The other factor that troubled us was the location of the driveway. To pull in and open the gate, and again on departing, put us right in the way of a busy intersection. I wouldn’t take that risk again. Again, I want to emphasize how helpful and courteous the Avant staff were.

girls trip to La Jolla

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Villa Valencia. The house was clean and comfortable with all the basics we needed. We were all adults; I wouldn't recommend this house for toddlers or young children as the stairs would pose a hazard, as well as the pool area. It is on a corner of two very busy streets and there is a bit of street noise and its a little hard to turn into the property, but we made it work. We had some issues with the driveway door not opening and were a little disappointed in how long it took to get someone to the house to fix it, but it didn't majorly impact the trip, thankfully.

Fantastic stay, easy access to beaches and shopping, view of ocean, nice pool, amenities and lots of room to relax, in a private setting in La Jolla, California. Multi million dollar property close to all of San Diego’s famous attractions.

Wonderful house and location

My husband and I stayed at this property during our wedding that was in La Jolla. AvantStay sent messages checking in and making sure everything was great with us. The house had everything we needed and everyone enjoyed their stay.
