Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Nice home but could use tlc. Mattresses and couches/chairs are old and outdated. There was also pet hair on the furniture. The wood on deck needs replacing as well as the carpet throughout the home. Whirlpool is outdated. Needs landscaping done. Needs a pool table etc. or some other form of entertainment.

House has potential.

The renters before us left trash in the bins outside. By the time we got there, a bear probably, had turned them over and scattered trash everywhere. The odor was horrible as well as the flies and bugs. Our fears of another animal came true on our second night when we came face to face with a skunk playing in the trash which sent us screaming back to the car to wait until it was safe to wade through the trash to get back into the house. I left messages on the realty company number and on the maintenance number that was posted in the house with no response from the realtor and the maintenance number called back to tell me that he hadn’t managed that house in years and for me to take his number down. The house does not have a/c which was ok because the weather was cool but we could not leave the several doors open because the screens were not up, they were propped on the house or laying on the deck. We were also worried about the critters who might join us due to all the trash scattered out front. The wooden slats on the deck were loose. In the loft, the ceiling fan had one light bulb completely hanging out of the globe. There was a part of a fire alarm that had the front removed. On the main floor, the couch and love seat had a musty odor and sheets of plywood under the cushions. It would help the appearance if the nice large table at least had all matching placemats. The fireplace had broken rock on it that should have been vacuumed up. The fire place tools were haphazardly stacked to the side. The hot tub looked great although there was an empty bottle of chemicals on the side. We were not able to use the hot tub as we ran out of hot water before it filled to the jets. The sauna caused a ?carbon monoxide detector to go off. We killed numerous large hopping bugs in the house. There was a general musty smell throughout. The beds did sleep good. The bathrooms had new shower heads. The house has potential to be a great place, the layout is good and view from the back deck was great but needs some maintenance and responsiveness from phone calls. I called the realtor again when we got back and got an apology for the bears and that people are supposed to take off the trash but don’t always do it. The realty never contacted me nor responded from my call on my second day there for assistance with the trash or to put up screens.

Great Place

Absolutely awesome! The only thing is the dates nature of the house. I imagine it would cost more if it were updated though. The whole family loved it.

Great location with great views

The property is a little dated but the location is perfect for ski slopes. The only downside I saw was the lack of a driveway as it only has a little side road cutout for maybe 2 cars and isn’t ideal for a larger group. Otherwise the experience was great and the check in was seamless.

Great Customer Service, Terrible Home

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I appreciate you helping us find a last-minute rental. The office manager was really nice and helpful. However, this home should never be rented. It is in terrible shape. The linens were musty/stale and towels were too. The home is poorly maintained and overall gross. We would have stayed somewhere else but the power in Banner Elk was out.

Property not in condition to be rented

The property is in desperate need of repair. There were 5+ containers of ridex throughout the home to try and eliminate the odor of must and mildew. The house smelled. There is carpet in the upstairs bathrooms and the toilets in each bathroom leaked so the carpet was always wet and smelled. There was mold/mildew in each bathroom. The 2nd story outdoor deck railing was missing slots and in other areas was pulled completely away creating a large danger. We had our dogs with us and had to create barriers so they wouldn’t fall off the deck. We attempted to take our dogs out back on a leash and use the fire pit area but there was garbage, beer bottles, glass, construction debris etc making it unsafe to walk in the side/back of the house. We rented the house to be able to sit on the deck, enjoy the views and there are no views because the trees are unkept/overgrown and there deck is not safe. The lights didn’t all work there were many pieces of left over furniture laying around and the home didn’t make any sense. It was just a dump to put it bluntly. Surprised from other reviews

There are some negative reviews of this house and none of us in our group (7) agreed. It was a really nice place & had everything you needed. It has mini blinds that aren’t in great shape, but other than that. It’s a great mountain cabin. We will stay there again without a question.

Loved this cute little vacation home!!!!

Reviewer Comments: I would give this 5 stars but the decks need attention my mother in law stepped down and her foot went through a board so they def need to do some outside maintenance overall other than that this was a great vacation rental we had plenty of linens and towels everything was clean and fresh we will def be staying here again in the future!!! Plus all the neighbors are great very friendly!!!

Horrible

This listing was not clean AT ALL! Cob webs were everywhere. Rat poop was everywhere in the bathroom. The couch had a board under the cushions and was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever sat in. I will never stay here again

Great location and views, musty smell

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We booked last minute and needed pet friendly. The location was convenient to skiing and gorgeous views. Spacious. The house had a musty smell. The bedding should be replaced. Had only 4 inches of water in hot tub before we ran out of hot water. Horrible smell in master bathroom had to keep the door closed and didn’t use. Agency knew about this before we rented as they sent a person to try and fix the vent which didn’t work. Would have appreciated a heads up before we got there.
