We stayed at this property (different unit, different owner) last year and really enjoyed the location and the large and relatively private beach. Given the pandemic, we decided to return because we knew there would be a lot of space to spread out away from others on the beach and it definitely did not disappoint.
The condo is on the older side, but well maintained and has everything you need. It's not luxurious, more utilitarian, but functional and mostly comfortable. The only drawbacks of the unit were the lack of smart TV for streaming (fortunately we brought a Roku Stick), an extremely uncomfortable bed in the master that left me tossing and turning every night and waking up with a sore back, and the need to use a key to get in the front door even though there was a code lock on the door (they would not provide us with the code). There were several times we almost walked out to the beach without a key.
My biggest complaint has to do with the property management company (Vacasa). They do not let you check in until 4PM, but their office closes at 5PM. So you only have a 1 hour check-in window! They don't bother to tell you this until 2 days before your trip. Driving in from out of state, I had a lot of anxiety anytime we hit heavy traffic, afraid bumper to bumper traffic would put us in after the office closed (there was nothing in the email about what to do if that happens). I did not need that kind of stress heading to vacation.
Also, given the pandemic, we had decided we were not going to go out to eat, so I emailed them the Wednesday before our Saturday arrival and asked if delivery services like Uber Eats are able to get through the security gate at Wild Dunes. They did not respond until Saturday afternoon, and only said they were not sure and they would need to check with the local property manager (Vacasa is apparently a large national company) and they would get back to me. They never did. I can't imagine dealing with this company if we really did have a problem.
So long story short, we will definitely return to this property but will look for a different unit not managed by Vacasa. And yes, food delivery services can get through the security gate.
