Sadly, we did not have a good experience with this owner. We checked in at 5:30pm (4pm is check-in). When we walked in, we were horrified.The room was a mess of trash, alcohol, dishes, and dirty bedding. Even the bellhop was shocked.
When we finally reached the owner, he acted annoyed with us for bugging him. He blamed his on-island contact and wasn’t apologetic or even empathetic that we were standing in the hallway with luggage, groceries, 2 little kids and 2 elderly grandparents in tow. He wasn’t sure when someone would be there to clean or how long it would take them. He couldn’t give us a time and told us just to keep checking back. I asked him if he could call to let us know when ready and he *reluctantly* agreed but was clearly annoyed with being asked. Finally at 9:35pm, 5.5hrs after check-in time, he sent a text. “Hi Alii 451 condo, just talked to my cleaner and they are done.” No phone call, no apology. He was rude. We requested a refund for that first night since we couldn’t get in. He agreed but it felt like he just wanted us to stop bugging him. If he had been at all apologetic on the phone or even just a bit nicer, we could have laughed about it.
As for the unit, it has a nice view. There is some maintenance (light bulbs out, loose towel rack, screen door, etc.) but these things on their own are no big deal.
The property is nice and the beach is close. I would caution you from renting from this owner and suggest you rent from someone else at the property.
