Peace, beauty, charm.

A return visit to the chateau, this time as a couple. We came back because of the location close to the Loire and civilisation whilst in beautiful grounds set apart from the rest of the world. A stunning pool, privacy, well equipped accommodation. Great and safe cycling, charming villages, vines galore. Great for couples but also families. Host Catherine is so helpful - her English puts my French to shame!

A nice Place to be :-)

A very friendly Family and a breathtaking landscape. The room had all you need for a nice holliday and the garden was so great. Also a lovely dog and a nice pool to swim. Thank you for this week at the Loire-Valley. Best wishes to you all and to Figaro from Germany.

Heerlijk rustige plek

Le cottage des figuiers is een heerlijk rustige plek op een prachtig landgoed. In het huisje is alles aanwezig wat je nodig hebt op vakantie. Het zwembad is heerlijk om gebruik van te maken. In het andere huisje zaten ook gasten maar die hoorden we nauwelijks.

Un week-end idéal

Nous avions envie de calme et de nature, les deux étaient au rendez-vous ! Nos hôtes ont été aux petits soins, la propriété est immense et la location tout à fait conforme à nos attentes. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour et ne manquerons pas de recommander à notre entourage!

It was a quiet and beautiful place to stay. The owner Catherine was welcoming and generously opened up the gardens around her house for our use. The pool was lovely. We had a very relaxing stay. Thank you.

Lovely property, beautiful and quiet location

We had a wonderful stay in this cute cottage. Only one room, but with lovely seating arrangements outside, who needed any more. The bed was comfortable, the surroundings just beautiful, and we explored them on bike and on foot and in the car. The hosts were wonderful. it could not have been better. Remember however to ensure you know what is open when and book the restaurants in advance!

This is one gem of a gite.

Could not have enjoyed it more. Having breakfast to the morning song of golden oriole and turtle dove in the surrounding woodland, a leisurely dip in the shared pool in the afternoon, an evening firing up the barbeque consoled by a cool local chenin. Bliss. Plus hosts Catherine and Phillipe were most welcoming and helpful. They produce a good evening meal in the chateau too when the barbeque seems like too much effort. We have not travelled extensively in France. But over the past 20 years or so we have been to, and stayed in, a fair few places. Most good to excellent; two less so. The Loire has turned out to be our favourite spot and the bit between Angers and Saumur is probably the cherry atop the icing on the cake. Fig Cottage is a great place to hang out for a week or two in a superb location. OK so it is not big,. But it has all the mod cons one needs. And let's face it who needs big on holiday. Could not recommend it more. I would be bitterly disappointed if we did not return.

Quiet and stylish

The accommodation is basically one room, with a bathroom cube in one corner. It contains almost everything you would want. The site is very quiet and private, and part of a bigger chateau site, which is very impressive. The bed was very comfy. The bathroom cube is a bit dark, but there was always hot water. The hostess is very friendly and business-like, and speaks good English - which helped my very poor French. For people who aren't used to the French way of life, we found finding places to eat very difficult - local restaurants were open on only selected days and times, and lots of them were already pre-booked. It's worth doing some research and booking restaurants ahead. I'm always wary of saying I'll go back to a place, but we enjoyed our stay and are thinking of returning.

Cadre charmant et situation exceptionnelle

Nous avons passé un séjour très agréable au Figuier, qui est confortable, propre, très bien équipé, avec une jolie décoration. Le cadre est magnifique, le jardin autour du château est très fleuri et la vue est à couper le souffle! Je vous conseille de prendre un petit apéro au moment du coucher de soleil! les propriétaires sont montrés accueillants et disponibles pour nous indiquer les bonnes tables et activités aux alentours. Nous gardons un bon souvenir de ce séjour et espérons pouvoir revenir bientôt, si possible en été pour profiter de la grande piscine!

Excellent séjour

Une parenthèse de deux semaines particulièrement agréable dans un bel endroit paisible et reposant. Le gite est rénové et décoré avec beaucoup de goût et dispose de tout le confort. J'ai particulièrement apprécié les promenades en soirée dans la propriété. Remerciements sincères aux hôtes pour leur disponibilité, leur gentillesse et leur discrétion. Adresse précieuse à conserver et à se transmettre entre amateurs de beaux lieux, de tranquillité et de nature.
