This exceptional villa with openable roof is located in an exceptional and secluded property of 10 hectares of olive groves and woods on the nearest hills of Lucca, 10 minutes from its historic centre, 200 meters above the city. It is built of white marble against a white marble hillside. The ubiquitous panoramic view is everywhere simply extraordinary even from the pool, its gazebo and terraces. It is a jewel of contemporary architecture and technology immersed in Tuscan nature.

The interior
The Architecture is very bright and transparent. It is thought in total harmony with nature which is omnipresent. The interior is organized around a spectacular staircase represented as a yellow dazzling evening dress. Architecture, furniture, lamps, sculptures, almost everything has been conceived, designed and custom made for the villa by their owners. Sculptures from the wife are exposed inside and outside.

Villetta Farfallina is laid out over three floors and is composed of a fully-equipped open-style kitchen, Living and dining room area on the main floor, two bedrooms and bathroom on the lower level and a master suite with bathroom and sitting room on the upper level.

The Hydraulic roof
The two wings of the roof open at a 30° angle like the wings of a butterfly. The two wings totalling 60 square meters open with 4 hydraulic pistons. This allows natural ventilation to cool the house and brings to the villa a very unique magic sensation of literally sleeping under the stars.

The external side
The Villa offers three private terraces plus the pool terrace, all where you can enjoy at night a splendid view of the lights of the city of Lucca and its surroundings. The first on the main level has a dining table and barbecue to enjoy outdoor dining, another with an outdoor heated and illuminated pool, then there is a further terrace and private garden with gazebo and deck chairs. All for the exclusive use of the guests of the Villa.

Ecological Architecture
The whole property consists of two constructions, both with openable roofs. This dream place is a laboratory, designed by the owners, who are famous architects, artist and designer. The property has been awarded one of the most ecological and exceptional homes in Italy by TV channel "National Geographic" in "Case piu verde d'Italia, It also won the Architectural award “EXPO STONE AWARD 2015” together with the “Freedom tower world trade center” in New York and the “Bridge tower” in London.
Guests staying at Villetta Farfallina share only the swimming pool with the owner. Usually, the owners do not use the pool while the guests use it. The pool is overflowing, has an area of 70 square meters, is 26 meters long and has a depth of 1.20 meters. It includes an area for swimming, another larger area for playing, and a Jacuzzi area. At any point of the pool, as well as from its terrace you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city of Lucca.

surroundings
The place is ideal for long excursions. From the hill behind the house you can admire the plain of Pisa, Livorno, as well as Elba Islands and Corsica by good weather.

Access
A car is essential and ample parking is available. It is advisable to drive or inform the driver of the vehicle that the vehicle itself must be within 2 meters wide, if necessary, with closed mirrors for wide cars to be able to pass through a straight (20 meters long) in the street before reaching the property.
