Feel relaxed and comfortable in my country style home . My home is on a 1/2 acre , 2 miles from the Alabama Hills, and 8 miles from Whitney Portal. There is plenty of space inside with a huge backyand front yard.
The space
Large country style home 13 miles from Mt Whitney Portal and 5 miles from Alabama Hills. There is a huge backyard , plenty of parking, a living room, a fire room, a dining room and kitchen, three beds, and three baths.
Guest access
Guest have access to everything in the house . Except the fire burning stove and fire pit outside per my county permit for safety reasons.

We traveled with our dog and the yard was perfect. Comfortable home and definitely appreciated the choice of 3 coffee machines. Easy access/short drive to hikes in the Alabama hills.

We really enjoyed our stay in the house. It was clean and so comfortable for 5 adults. There were lots of pots and pans, dishes and flatware. Also, lots of spices. Our host was very responsive and lovely to communicate with. We definitely hope to return!

Nice and clean and great location - close to Mt. Whitney, Alabama Hills, and a day trip to Death Valley! The bed wasn’t the most comfortable, but the trip was great overall! Would stay here again.

An amazing and unique housing structure for large groups. Very spacious and comfortable. Even with 5 people staying here it did not feel crowded at all; however, there were a lot of ants in the kitchen and some bathroom areas. Also, more concerning for us, was that we saw a few mice in the house. One hiding in the master bedroom closet, the other by the living room area. Potentially more throughout the house, so be mindful of this. The house is quite remote with a large open field next to it so I’m sure many critters probably get in. Other than that it was a nice stay.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad to hear the home felt spacious and comfortable for your group. We truly appreciate you bringing the ant and mouse activity to our attention. Because the property is located in a remote area surrounded by open fields, occasional critters can appear, but this level of activity is not what we want for our guests. We’ve already scheduled additional pest‑control services and are taking steps to seal entry points to prevent this from happening again. We’re grateful you enjoyed your stay otherwise, and we hope to have the opportunity to host you again under improved conditions.

Beautiful piece of property that is well maintained. Owner was easy to get in touch in preparation coming there. No problems just like to grab and feel comfortable AND I DID. Joy is great person to work with. Ya can’t do wrong with her.

The house is as described in the description. We did have trouble opening the door with the key pad. Joy got back to me right away and she told us how to access the house. Joy will fix the key pad. The one item for improvement is to get rid of the ants. The area is quiet and safe.

Rare Surprise

I travel extensively for work and rent houses across the US. I am so tired of the oversell with misleading photos and descriptions. This place was the rare undersell. The pictures do not do it justice. It is a great spacious house with comfortable beds. Sleeps 6 and HAS dishes & place settings that match that number. Plenty of pots and pans. We throughly enjoyed it and would rent again in a heartbeat. Joy was excellent to work with.
