House sleeps 8 comfortably
- Master bedroom with 2 queen beds and ensuite bath
- Two additional bedrooms, each with 1 queen bed
- Additional full size bath and 1/2 bath
- Fully equipped kitchen with eating area
- Family room comfortably seats all
- Screened front porch with seating as well as back deck
Four acres of property with parking for cars and boat trailers. Inside garage parking for three vehicles or several motorcycles .
Public river access across the road.
NOTE: Private river access requires walking steep downhill trail to shaded area. Travel at your own risk. Very secluded and worth the walk. Path posted No Trespassing....for our guests only.
IMPORTANT FOR FISHING: We recommend the TVA Lake Info app for your phone. You can check daily water release schedule from South Holston Dam (10 miles upriver). Water release will take approx 3 hours to arrive in area in front of rental house. Between water releases, the river can be waded for fishing. We recommend children are always accompanied by an adult when at the river.

Everything was great except the beds, very uncomfortable and hard to sleep on also the pillows very thin. I stay in a lot of properties and this seems to be a issue 9 out of 10 times, so this property is no differnt than most. The rest was very well done. Thank you

Loved our stay here! Wish we were here longer to enjoy coffee on the screened in porch. Casper the local dog made an appearance - super friendly and stayed outside. Perfect amount of room and very comfortable for our family visiting for the Reds/Braves game at Bristol. Host was great in providing local recommendations. Highly recommend!

This was a perfect property to hold our family reunion! Lots of room for the kids to enjoy the outdoors in the afternoons and evenings, and amazingly peaceful for the grandparents in the mornings.The screened porch is marvelous! With the added bonus of the local wildlife of deer and bald eagles (and neighbor's fun loving dog) it made for a week we'll never forget! The hosts gave us recommendations for kids activities and were very helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had.

Stayed over race weekend

This place has EVERYTHING anyone could ask for while visiting the area . John and Penny are the ultimate hosts. the kitchen , living room bedrooms and baths are all comfortable and well furnished for all your needs . Make this your first choice while visiting the area . We plan on staying again next time we attend the races .

Very clean home, nice property. Sits on a very very steep driveway- great parking but don’t plan on pulling a trailer up the driveway - way to steep.

Bluff City Rental

This property was perfect for our stay of 4 adults. Everything was as advertised. Penny reached out several times during our stay to be sure all was good. The views from each room were lovely and the porches were perfect for drinking coffee. We will definitely return to this lovely home.

Absolutely Perfect!!

We stayed here with some good friends for race weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway. The house was just perfect for our two families. There was plenty of room and it was well appointed. We enjoyed and fire in the fire pit the first night, where we met the neighbors dog. He was so sweet and we all wanted to take him home. The house is conveniently located near the track. The area is very quiet, which we loved. We will be back.

Race vacation

We came down for the race to relax and to golf and did all three with comfort, the house is as pictured its quiet awesome veiws, we saw deer every evening had fires overall great experience.

Excellent Stay!

We stayed here for a week and had a wonderful time. The house was big and clean. The land and location were beautiful. The neighbour has an adorable and friendly dog that my daughters loved playing with outside for hours. Will definitely come back again.

We were in town for the race at the speedway. The location was perfect and just far enough away to have space for all 8 of us. Great host. Highly recommend

Wonderful Place!

What a great place to be with your family. The house was spacious and very nicely furnished. The host checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. Loved the big kitchen and the views were incredible. Would highly recommend this house for a family getaway!

My husband John and I consider it a privilege to live on the South Holston River, one of the premier fishing rivers in the eastern United States. When the opportunity presented itself to buy another home to share with vacationers, we did not hesitate. It is our hope that everyone staying in our rental will experience the joy of the beautiful river and surrounding Holston Mountain.

Bristol Caverns: 6.3 miles
South Holston Lake: 10 miles
Bristol Motor Speedway: 3.6 miles
Virginia Creeper Biking Trail: 20 miles
Roan Mountain State Park: 21 miles
Tweetsie walking and biking trail: 14 miles
Lamar Alexander Rocky Fork State Park: 36 miles
Laural Falls trailhead: 14 miles
Appalacian Trail entry points: 30 miles

This property is perfect for a family vacation or a group of fishing or biking enthusiasts. The house provides two interior garage spaces for your parking convenience. There is plenty of outdoor space to park your boating or biking trailers. With four acres of privacy, enjoy the view from the screened in front porch or rear deck. Build a fire in the provided fire pit at night and look at the stars in the night sky. If you are coming to fish....PERFECT! Please read below for details!

FISHING INFO:
There are several public access areas in close proximity...one directly across the road from the rental.
We recommend guests download the TN Valley Authority (TVA) app on their smartphone for detailed water release schedules. All water released from the dam takes approximately 3 hours to reach the area in front of the rental house. Fishing is great whether you are wading during low water or fishing from the river side during high water.
TWRA (Tn Wildlife Resources Agency) rules apply to fish and type sizes. TWRA website posts trout stocking release schedules. South Holston River is a natural breeding site for Brown trout and Rainbow trout are added for sport fishing. Tn State marine biologists estimate there are 8,500 trout per mile on the SOHO.
Many guide services are available on-line and several Outfitter shops are located nearby for supplies and fishing recommendations.
Watauga River, located 10 miles away, is also a highly rated trout stream with multiple access points and abundant fish. Numerous articles on-line and in sports publications rate the South Holston and Watauga Rivers as the best east of the Rocky Mountains.
Our guest house is located at the Boyds Island breeding area and is closed from November-January for natural breeding activity. Other months of the year allow abundant, natural Brown trout for your enjoyment.
Consuming fish: South Holston and Watauga Rivers use mountain fed lakes and streams and fish are abundant and safe to eat. Enjoy fresh fish on the grill while relaxing and taking in the views from Riverside Retreat!
