Barren Lake Waterfront Eclectic Cabin - Dock; 17 miles from Mammoth Cave

A truly unique eclectic cabin with modern amenities on this lakefront property with direct access to a private group dock. This lakehouse cabin is the perfect getaway for those wanting lake access, a dock and close proximity to the Narrows Marina (direct view from the dock); with all the amenities of modern comfort. We are located 15 miles from Barren River State Park and 17 miles from Mammoth Cave National Park. Note: The lake level drops beginning October 15th every year. The cove has year round water, but the dock will be dry during winter months. This allows extra shore for exploration, and kayaking/fishing are still available.

(We are a Certified Wildlife Habitat accredited by the National Wildlife Federation and Kentucky Waterways Alliance.)

Our family really enjoyed our stay. The amenities were greatly appreciated and we really liked the property. The tree cover in the backyard kept the house and porches cool. Everything was clean and the property is well kept. We liked the sleeping options and everyone slept comfortably. We all loved the lake and all of the floats we had access to. The kids loved the lily pad. The water was so warm and enjoyable that we spent a lot of time on the lake. Great vacation for the whole family!

Wonderful Stay!

We had a fantastic time! The accommodations were excellent—clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully furnished. The kitchen was impressively well-stocked, making meals easy. We especially loved the kayaks—such a great bonus—and the beautiful surroundings made our stay even more memorable. Highly recommend!

A great house!!!

My family and I had a great time!! The house was clean and stocked with the necessities. My boys loved the loft and the games. The deck and fire pit were awesome!! We were disappointed that we couldn’t walk out to the dock because the lake level caused the walk way to be under water but that did not deter us from the fun we had! The only thing I can say is that there’s not enough seating in the living room for everyone to chill comfortably but we were so busy it really was only a minor thing. My city dwelling self was also a bit surprised how far off the beaten path it is. If you are used to back roads then it’s probably no big deal. Everything was paved so that was good. I definitely became more comfortable as the trip progressed. It would not deter me from going back. It was beautiful!!!

Awesomely Tranquil and Private!

This is the perfect place to sit on the deck during the day or sit by the fire at night, we loved everything about this quaint little home! The stairs up and down were a bit of a challenge for my 81-year-old Mom, but she made the trip and the stairs like a champ! I would have given it a 5 star rating, but I won't lie - we were disappointed with the lake access (which is specifically why I picked this property), but due to recent rains and historic flooding in central Kentucky - the path to get to the dock at the lake was flooded.... :-(We can't wait until we can book again, when the lake will be back down to normal levels. Thanks again, we had a wonderful time!

Fantastic accomodations

Very well put together vacation home. Had everything needed for a relaxing stay. S'mores station was definitely a hit with the kids. Would love to visit again during the summer to enjoy the lake.

Family Fall Break

We loved staying at this VRBO property! The outdoor space was ideal for a campfire and relaxing. Beautifully maintained property. You could see the lake through the trees while relaxing. The property has a cozy cottage feel, but still enough space for the whole family. The kids had fun fishing at the doc and caught bluegills. The kitchen had everything we needed and there were plenty of linens and towels. The proximity to Mammoth Cave National park (35 minutes) and Bowling Green (40 minutes) was great! We will be back!

Summer Stay

This house was the perfect place to stay and check out Mammoth Cave and surrounding areas. Two of our days were simply spent on the lake and at the house playing games and enjoying the fire pit. Not too far from any kind of attraction, well equipped, and comfortable.

Relaxing

We had a peaceful stay and loved the access to the kayaks. The house is on a quiet street so able to do some walking. The house was clean and had everything you may have forgotten.

Cozy Cabin with Everything you Need

My family, which included a teen, a tween, two grandparents and my spouse very much enjoyed and appreciated the charm and coziness of this cabin. The lake was at its lowest which made it perfect to go find fossils, which we did! It was so nice to come back here and relax after all our cave adventures. We would definitely stay here again. Also, we very much enjoyed finding all the frogs hidden in plain site! That was a fun game.

This cabin sets the standard for VRBO!

Every aspect of this cabin was a premium experience! S’mores kit, firewood & kindling, comfortable beds, fishing rods & tackle box, kayaks & life vests, swimming, Sonos speakers, tvs with Apple TVs, condiments in fridge, toiletries. I could go on and on how great this place was. Did I mention it was SUPER clean? 19min to Mammoth Cave, 20min to a Walmart. It’s going to be so hard to stay anywhere else after this cabin!

Small and cozy but some issues.

When we first arrived we were treated by a mouse on a sticky pad. Needless to say we found mouse droppings in a lot of places. Including our towels. I tried communicating with the owner after our stay and never received a response. The sleeping accommodations are for 7 but that is the only thing. We had to bring seating in from outside to have comfortable places to sit in the living room. There is only enough seating at the kitchen table for 4 but there are tv trays. Other than all of that it was a nice place to stay. Beautiful views and comfortable beds. Also be aware the beds are all upstairs and downstairs which we didn’t realize (but should have). Not a great place for small children or elderly.

This place is FANTASTIC

My family and I like to stay at different properties when we take vacation time as a family. We normally like to stay in different places. Within 15 minutes of being at the property, the kids wanted to come back on our next vacation. This place was picturesque. I can't tell you how much we enjoyed our stay. It it was all of the little things that the owners thought of that made the difference. They even thought of making a tackle box that had smores supplies for the firepit. I can't recommend this property more. Unless something happens, my family and I will be back this spring.

Wonderful

Only stayed two nights in this house and wished I had a whole month. The owners had everything you could ever need. They also left me a birthday treat of yummy pumpkin bread. I loved sitting by the fire at night. And fishing during the day. I absolutely fell in love with the cabin, the view, the atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back to this one!

Wonderful Cabin

We had a great time at this Cabin. The location was remote but still close enough to needed services. Cozy and loaded with many extras including a s’more kit that the kids loved. Top notch amenities throughout the cabin. I would recommend this for anyone wanting to get away from the hustle.

Our property sits in Cooks Creek Cove directly across from the Narrows Marina. We love this Cove because it's in a No-Ski Zone, has water year round and is conveniently located on the center of Barren Lake.

A Stone's Throw is a unique blend of modern amenities (fiber hi-speed wireless internet, central heat & air and smart TVs) along with eclectic design touches throughout the cabin. We sit at the end of North Gillock Rd in a quiet lakeside neighborhood and have tried to blend in with the natural surroundings to ensure the area wildlife can coexist uninterrupted. We are a Certified Wildlife Habitat accredited by the Nat'l Wildlife Federation and the KY Waterways Alliance.
