Oak Tree Bungalow - Relaxed Island Living

Remodeled beach bungalow that maintained the vintage charm while adding modern amenities. Three bedroom home is decorated with art from local North Carolina artisans. Enjoy the oversized screen porch which opens to a patio which includes a sitting area and picnic table as well as a gas grill to enjoy local caught seafood. Though the cottage contains one full bathroom you will likely enjoy the oversized outdoor shower under the towering majestic oak tree from which the cottage is named. New for 2025 is a private lounging pool (2' deep) for your relaxation.
The Bungalow is centrally located and is a 1/2 mile to the beach with direct beach access on 52nd, 55th and 58th Streets as well as a 1/4 mile to the Intracoastal Waterway. In addition, shopping, grocery stores and restaurants are within walking or biking distance. The island is very bike friendly and you can bike most anywhere you need to go, biking is the best way to see the island. Golf Carts are very popular and rentals are easy to obtain for your stay. We can provide rental information for you if needed. For a little longer trip take the NC Ferry from Southport to Fort Fisher and take in the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher and visit a Civil War era earthen fort. Oak Island offers several parks along the Intracoastal Waterway to fish, kayak or boat watch.
Oak Island / Southport is a great area to relax and enjoy. From the over 16 miles of beach, the intracoastal waterway to the marsh areas it has it all. Kayaking, paddle boarding, great bike, - hiking trails, golfing, fishing, shopping and restaurants. Public boat launch is three blocks away. The still operational Oak Island Light House will guide you at night. Visit the Point for a one of a kind sunset. A listing of things to do and our favorite restaurants and shopping locations will be available in the bungalow when you arrive

Loved our stay at this artsy beach house! The cowboy pool was a fun surprise, plus the outdoor shower was super convenient. We loved the unique paintings and the personalized sculptures Easy golf cart rides to the ice cream shop, grocery store, and beach made everything a breeze. Plenty of outdoor seating and a cozy screened porch—everything a family could need for a relaxing trip!

Great stay, especially if you rent a golf cart. The outdoor amentities are great. There is a hose, outdoor (fully private) shower, a small lounge pool that was nice for the adults but amazing for the 1 year old and 2 year old. The only criticism I have are small beds, but that wasn't that big of a deal. We're just accustomed to large beds. Would use again!

It was one of the best vacation we've had in a long time! The home was so cute and comfortable (the beds where so comfy). The cowboy pool was so nice and cool after hours on the beach! My kids loved the outdoor shower and thought it was so cool! The bikes ended up being one of our favorite things too!!

Amazing

Pictures don’t do it justice. Loved everything about our stay calm and relaxing house. Close to beach and supermarket. Best part we’re the bikes available for us to use made getting around so much easier. Outside shower is a lifesaver especially with kids so we didn’t track sand inside. Screened in porch helps with the NC bugs. The bungalow was everything we needed and more.

Perfect Getaway

Perfect littler getaway about a ten minute walk from the beach. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Was peaceful and quite, highly recommend and would love to come back again.

Excellent location.

Overall great stay. The bikes were a great thing for teenagers. Excellent location for older kids to ride bikes and go to Sunset Slush or the candy store on there on. Further from the beach than we usually stay but rented a golf cart and it was fine. Short walk honestly, just when your sandy and tired ;) very close to Publix and food lion.

Perfect bungalow

This was the perfect place for our family. Spotless, a short trip to the beach and intercoastal, and more amenities than we could have asked for. Gracious and responsive hosts. Lovely trip!

Loved the beach bungalow!

Perfect and quiet house for a beach vacation. House was exceptionally equipped with everything you might need. Loved the beach chairs, beach wagon and bikes. Lots of outdoor space with seating. Highly recommend!

Wonderful Stay!

My Family had a wonderful time at the Oak Bungalow! Perfect location, Clean, fantastic amenities! . I especially loved early morning coffee on the porch, so peaceful and quiet. We made a low country boil an ate at picnic table. Perfect place! We will be returning for sure.

Great Beach Bungalow

Had a great family vacation in Oak Island at this beach bungalow. Great location and we loved the outdoor shower and the cleanliness of this place. We would stay here again for sure and Oak Island is a great place for an ocean vacation.

A truly wonderful time

We loved everything about this home. We loved the outside shower, the screened in porch, the location to the beach/town, the kitchen, the cute decor all throughout and the vibe around the neighborhood. The house had everything you needed (the little details like shampoo/conditioner/soap, laundry detergent, ziplock bags, bicycles for town, beach cart, beach chairs, cooler for house and beach, towels, etc.) which helped make for such an easy and wonderful vacation. Nothing is missed in this home. We loved every moment of being there. We recommend 100%.

Great location and so much charm!

We just loved staying here. There were so many places to just be: the porch and hammock, the patios, and the house itself. It was kept nice and cool with the mini-splits in each part of the house. Absolutely loved the outside shower, rides to the beach and around town. Especially appreciated all the art and real care and thought put into decorating the home.

This property is wonderful! It was perfect for a girls’ getaway with my daughters. Bucky and Mary put so many beautiful touches on this home. It is a convenient walk to the beach. The house had everything we needed and more! We especially loved the screened in porch, the many outdoor sitting areas, and the outdoor shower. We hope to make this a regular spot for our family.

Wonderful Oak Tree Bungalow

We very much enjoyed our time at this house. The host literally thought of everything you would need to have a wonderful vacation. In fact I plan on stealing a few of the ideas for my home. I have 4 children ages 3-14 and we all enjoyed the conveniences provided here. Having access to so many things such as fishing cart, beach chairs, bikes, beach towels, all cooking and eating essentials, as well as sheets and bath towels, this made the trip a true vacation for this mom. My husband enjoyed using the grill and the outside shower was so convenient to wash away the sand from the beach. We will definitely be booking to stay again soon. Thank you Bucky and please thank your wife for all of the little touches that made this an amazing vacation.

Oak Island Bungalow

This property is amazing. Great outdoor space including screened in porch, outdoor shower and grill. The bungalow is decorated with amazing art and cute details. The kitchen is very well stocked and the bungalow is very comfortable. And only 4 blocks from beach. Owners provide bikes to use, beach chairs and cart. Amazing vacation with everything we needed. Highly recommend and will stay again when in the area!

Family vacation

We were there the week of July 4th and enjoyed the house and property, the back yard had such fun and beachy decor as did the house! The beds were all comfortable and the house had everything needed. The owner left a nice welcome note along with a nice bottle of wine. Our daughter got engaged on the beach, making the whole trip even more memorable! Thanks again! The Lorince family

Loved the Bungalow!!

My husband and I absolutely loved the bungalow. The house is located on a corner lot. Driveway opens to both roads. Made boat parking a breeze and only a minute from the dock. We rented a golf cart and were only a few minutes from beach. The house was even better than advertised. Super clean and beautifully decorated. Well stocked with everything we needed for the beach and cooking. We will bring a lot less when we return next year. Loved the porch and the hammock. The outdoor shower was AMAZING!! We will definitely be back!

This home was perfect for our family vacation. Great location & the owners made sure we had everything that we needed and more. We really appreciated the cleanliness of the rental, the outdoor shower & the beautiful porch area. Definitely felt like a home away from home. :)

A relaxing girls weekend

We enjoyed the stay at the house from hanging out on the patio to riding the bikes provided. The house is not far from the beach and very close to restaurants and shops. Everything was very clean and neat with some fun decor. We will definitely keep this in mind for any future trips!
