Urban Escape in Ramsay By Calgary Stampede, Inglewood, Bow River

This stylishly renovated historic suite, built in 1915, offers a blend of vintage charm and modern luxury near the Calgary Stampede grounds. Amenities include 1G high-speed internet, streaming services, a fully equipped kitchen, queen bed, sofa bed, workspace, washer/dryer, and keyless entry. The decor features a forest and nature atmosphere. Located in the historic Ramsay neighborhood, it's close to local attractions, Inglewood, Bow River pathway, making it an ideal base for exploring Calgary.

The suite has been renovated to a more modern look and is fully furnished in a modern-day homage to the early 1900’s. Located on the 2nd floor of the historic J. Nevler building in Ramsay and was constructed in 1915, it is an Edwardian Commercial style building. Jeremiah Nevler (the original owner), a Russian Jewish immigrant who lived in Calgary with his family. Nevler operated a grocery store in Bridgeland / Riverside before relocating his home and business to this address. He evidently left the City around 1923-24, and sold the building around 1928. Today it is named Hardware Block as it once held a hardware storefront but has been converted to living space.

The bedroom is very comfortable with a warm cozy duvet, a memory foam queen bed mattress, high end bedding and pillow options for your comfort. There is a privacy curtain with a blackout curtain in the room. For additional comfort we have a portable AC unit in the summer and a small heater in the winter.

The kitchen is well stocked with everything you could possibly need to cook an amazing meal. The kitchen also comes with a choice of coffee and tea.


The bathroom also comes with everything you would need and more! Did you forget to pack something? We have you covered with a care bag which includes toothpaste, lotions, shampoo, conditioners, body wash, feminine hygiene products etc.


The living room has a sofa bed that folds out into a queen sized bed that is suitable for smaller adults or for kids.


The Suite has laundry within, located in the kitchen next to the bathroom.

Let us know if you are travelling with an infant or small children. upon request we can accommodate with a pack and play that is safe for overnight sleeping.

There are several steps to the 2nd level after entering in the yellow side door, this suite is NOT suitable for people with mobility issues as you would have to walk up to the 2nd level. Then the green door on the right at the top of the stairs.

The suite is in a historical building. Some noise transfer between suites is possible.

For coffee: We provide a tin coffee along with a coffee machine in the unit for your convenience. As part of our commitment to sustainable living, we've transitioned away from single-use cups. Instead, savor the rich aroma of ground coffee, provided for your convenience.

Our suite utilizes a noise and smoke monitoring device that monitors the level of noise, in addition to any unauthorized smoking or vaping.

*No smoking or vaping of any substances in suite and building. If smoking or vaping is detected there will be a $350 additional charge for cleaning.

*Possible unexpected noises and noise transfer due to age of the building and thin walls.

*Please take care of your own dishes prior to your checkout. Otherwise you will be charged for additional cleaning of $65.

No pets are allowed in this suite, the building itself may not be pet or allergy free. However this suite, we will do our best to keep this clean and free of any odors and allergens but there is no guarantee.

There is a $350 penalty for unauthorized pets in the unit.

This suite does not have a dining table due to limited space however, there is plenty of seating on the sofa bed.

Perfect spot for our weekend hockey getaway

Excellent place to stay if going to a hockey game at the saddle dome. Quiet part of town. Park up th hill has a great view of downtown Calgary. The private space with a kitchenette and washer/dryer was everything we needed

If I could give this experience 0 stars, I would. This host did not have the unit cleaned prior to our arrival. There was a very strong smoke smell in the main entryway and the smoke was present upstairs in our unit. I immediately tried calling the owner, no reply. Hours later he said the cleaners didn't notice any odour. There is no way any cleaners had been in that unit prior to us checking in. The floors were dirty, garbage still in the garbage can, the microwave was broken, the stove top was greasy, there were someone's slippers under the bed and shirts in the closet, and the armoire was broken and so dirty I didn't wan't to unpack into it. We heard rodents scratching in the exterior wall, which might explain the rat traps outside the building. VRBO was of very little help. After finding mouse droppings in the pans under the oven, we'd had enough and decided to leave after one day of our 5 day stay. Then after leaving I realized I'd left personal items behind. I asked for them back and he said he'd check with the cleaners. Unbelievably the cleaners came the next day after we left and they took my personal items including prescription meds. He didn't have the courtesy to clean the place when we brought it to his attention. Spend your money elsewhere, this host doesn't deserve it.

I thought I got my self a good deal for a nice place (from the looks of the photos) close to downtown Calgary, but I arrived to see a somewhat unsafe old property with wobbly doors, bad stale air in the common area like no one lived there for ages, and a strong paint smell upon opening the rental unit (likely newly renovated and didn't air out the place). We took a brief look and decided the place was not safe nor good for our health and left immediately. After finding an alternative accommodation, I immediately sent a message to the host of the situation and asked for a refund. The host replied apologizing for the inconvenience (caused by his maintenance staff), and said I need to contact Vrbo to initiate the refund. After returning from our vacation, I contacted Vrbo about the case and asked for a refund. Vrbo replied saying the payment was already released to the host, and it is upto the host to refund. After about 3 days Vrbo replied that the host is not refunding. I sent a message to the host that he knew about the situation, and had asked me to contact Vrbo for a refund, yet he did not refund. He said he never heard from Vrbo and asked me for the case number. I gave him the case number and asked how can he not heard from Vrbo when I received 3 emails from Vrbo. He didn't reply to this and chose to ignore this case. Should you still decide to book this substandard property run by a host with no integrity, be sure to have a plan B.
