Stellar experience from start to finish. This beautiful modern machiya offers a genuine glimpse into everyday Japanese living, while still feeling luxuriously special. The sense of harmony and balance throughout the house is genuinely restorative — it’s the kind of place that makes you breathe a little slower.The small garden is truly the jewel in the crown. Being able to soak in a hot bath in the privacy of your own garden, or sit quietly in the meditation room overlooking that peaceful green space, was unforgettable.The location is also ideal: surrounded by useful amenities, easy to get around from, and perfectly placed for exploring the countless attractions the city has to offer.And then, the hosts. Koji and Eri are the kindest and most thoughtful hosts I’ve ever had. They welcomed us with a full tour, explained every detail clearly, and made sure we felt completely at home. Nothing was left to chance. Their recommendations for local bakeries and restaurants were absolute gems — the sort of authentic, local knowledge you simply wouldn’t find on your own.We left feeling grateful, relaxed, and already hoping to return. We can’t wait to come back.
