This was a terrible experience that I’m still trying to get my money back from weeks later. Upon check in, as soon as I walked into this house, my allergies flared up. Every surface was covered in thick dust. The beds had someone else’s hair in them. The shag rugs had trash visibly stuck in them. The hosting company, Evolve, manages the property and works with the owner. They were completely unresponsive that first night, after many attempts to reach them via app messaging and direct phone call. Knowing I couldn’t stay there, but not having heard back from Evolve yet, I chose to leave and stay at a hotel. I was meant to stay here for 5 nights. The entirety of my time in Providence, I was trying to get ahold of someone at Evolve to make this right. VRBO was only able to help to an extent, since the payment was handled externally (something I learned the hard way and will be on the look out for in the future). When Evolve chose to respond, they would try to tell me that they owe me no compensation because I left “voluntarily.” Believe me, leaving a home I had access to and trying to find a hotel elsewhere at midnight is not a voluntary exit. As of today, weeks after the initial check in, Evolve has only offered me half of my payment back. They’ve stopped responding to me entirely, leaving me to dispute the remaining charge with my bank. Do not stay here and do not stay with any property managed by Evolve.
