A private lower-level suite in Ambleside - 950 sq ft, with a separate bedroom, a king bed, a full kitchen and its own covered patio. Four or five minutes' walk to Ambleside Beach and the seawall. Laundry in the suite, free parking on site, and a desk if you need to work. Your own entrance with a keypad, so you can arrive at any hour.

The space

The suite is the whole lower level of our three-level house - one large open living space rather than a series of small rooms, with good light, calm neutral colours and generous closet space. The bedroom is separate, with a king bed.

Full kitchen, bathroom with a tub, washer and dryer in the suite, fast wifi and a desk. In-floor heating and a gas fireplace make the wet months comfortable, and the patio is covered, so it works in the rain too.

Getting around: 20 minutes to downtown and the Convention Centre over the Lions Gate, 20 to Cypress and Grouse, 15 to the Horseshoe Bay ferry. The beach, the seawall and the Marine Drive restaurants are a short walk; Park Royal is a longer walk or a five-minute drive.

A second double bed sits behind a room divider in the living room, so the suite works equally well for a couple, for two people who'd each prefer their own bed, or for a family of four.

Guest access

The suite is entirely yours - your own entrance at ground level, a smart lock, and the covered patio outside your door. Nothing is shared.

Other things to note

Exterior security cameras at the property entrance. None inside.

Pack for the season: sunny June through October, rain from October onward, and occasionally snow at sea level - never very cold. Shoes with grip if you're heading up the Grouse Grind or the Chief, or just along the seawall.
